They could, I don't know, call up an Outfielder like Pompay then send him back down when Bautista is healthy. But who am I to judge the smart John Gibbons and AA.

They absolutely half assed it. They made a couple big trades (reyes and Richardey) but never bothered following it up by spending what is required to be a legit contender. Essentially they blew a ton of prospects for nothing.

AA is far too conservative. They had major starting pitcher issues while chris young was sitting there without a contract and I don't even hear a rumour that Toronto has interest. He has serious durability issues but the Jays should've been desperate. He's looked better than any Jay so far for the Royals.
