lol when you get proven wrong you run away. don't say top 10's should be no brainers when that clearly isn't the case.

00 draft: Dipietro started good, completely fell off for some who went 1st overall, Klesla at 4th isn't the greatest, Torres is a bust considering being draft 5th overall.
01 draft: Svitov is a bust at 3rd overall, Chistov is a bust at 5th overall.
02 draft: They were fine, Whitney was nothing special at 5th overall.
03 draft: Zherdev is a bust at 4th overall.
04 draft: Barker is a bust at 3rd overall.
05 draft: Pouloit doesn't live up to 4th overall expectations
06 draft: Johnson doesn't live up to 1st overall expectations, J. Stall doesn't live up to 2nd overall expectations.
07 draft: Hickey doesn't live up to 4th overall expectations.
08 draft: Some would argue Bogosian hasn't lived up to the expectations of being 3rd overall, Schenn hasn't lived up to being dafted 5th overall.
09 draft: I'd say top 5 is pretty good. Schenn is starting to come into form.
10 draft: Gudbranson is finally starting to come into form, Niederreiter is on the borderline.
11 draft: Larsson had a decent year this year finally, but was starting to be written off by most prior to this season.

still too early from 12 draft on to predict, but they look very promising.

have I proven my point? or will you still not admit you are wrong?

so you are neglecting the fact that in 1 draft alone there were 5 busts in the top 9 (not considering luc bourdon at the 10th selection).

top 3 should be given, top 5 a little more unknown, top 10 is a wash. could be good, could be bad.

If they are a rare player with size, speed and skill yes, draft them but otherwise speed and skill needs to be the focus. It's hard to maul them if they can't catch them, and keep up with their cycles.

TB is going to win this I have a gut feeling. (50-50 chance haha)

- currphij

Agreed. And I hope they win too. I've seen Camel Toews raise the Cup enough times. Time for Stammer to get the honour so he can fulfill his duty there without feeling any guilt for leaving to sign with the Leafs next year.

just to show over 50% of the players in the top 9 were busts. it was extremely unfortunate to be honest. he looked so promising after 2 really good world junior performances.

Alexander DeBrincat, BMO Rookie of the Year

Rasmus Andersson was robbed. ROBBED!

Also Provorov...way to give rookie of the year to the guy who rode McDavid's coat tails and was a different player when Elie and Baptiste took his spot in the playoffs.

why is andersson rated so low? 64 pts in 67 games for a defense is pretty impressive. looks like someone leafs should look at in the 3rd round if they take 2 forwards at 4 and 24

so because of guys like rundblad, erixon, urbom, bertilsson, blomqvist, ekbom, and almqvist haven't amounted to much, they have changed their tone?

kind of stupid when you have so many amazing swedish defense in the league, hedman and OEL coming from that specific draft as well.

I think Ottawa has the greater legacy.

I'm sorry, I can't do this.

Well ok, I'm one of those people then, since I did say there would a slight improvement. Think of it this way. Toews in Ottawa would mean less points for Toews and maybe his presence on the ice makes other players slightly better getting their point production a bit higher. Turris in Chicago would propel Turris to play better, putting up more points and maybe drop the production of his teammates. That being said, Chicago's depth and quality of players outweigh Ottawa's and they would still be very competitive.

Turris = Toews. Maybe even better. Turris never got to play for the Hawks after all.

Also this gem.

Turris is a great player... I can agree with that. Great two way, agile skater, clutch player, active stick - a lot of the same attributes as toews and in SOME ways, better. But those are few and far between. Toews is much older and more advanced in the play he plays. If you move Turris there, I still see chi winning a cup -but I dno.

The only time those 2 player names should ever be on the same page is in an alphabetical list of players.

I can't believe the reputation Leafs fans get when I read some of the revelations on other teams' threads.
