He's 28 now. He'll be 30 his 1st season with us
If u can get him for 5mil for 4years...
That's another story
But I'd be shocked if he signs a deal that small

- jdfitz77

He's already making 5.3...if you could sign him to a 6 year $6 million per deal I would do it. The contract would run until he is 36. That's not too bad. But IMO if he hits FA he is going to get paid and paid BIG

Fair enough

What do u think of going after Nash if he's available?
I'm torn

If he hits free agency? He will absolutely get $7 million. Teams will be lining up like they did for Brad Richards. If he didn't reach free agency I would agree with you. He would probably sign an 8 year deal averaging around 6 million per.

Not if their are other good defensemen available.

Seabrook is a UFA, so is Byguglien, Hamhuis and a few others

Yandle is better than all except Seabrook IMO and he is younger than all of them

Right, but if their are more than one option, not all teams are bidding on one player.

It also depends on what he does next year in NY.

What do you think he would get on the open market? There will absolutely be teams bidding against each other for him if he hits the market. He would be the king of the crop on the blue line.

I think he will get 6 or 6.5. 7 isn't out of the question.

It all depends, Christian Ehrhoff had offers for 5 years with other teams and chose a 1 year offer from the Pens.

I think it's premature to say a guy that's not even a FA until after next year is is going to command max dollars and term

I have friends in NYC that think the rangers will trade Nash BC of his lack of playoff scoring & their Cap issues

I'd take him in a heart beat.

50 points on a bad Arizona team speaks for itself IMO.

I would take him I would trade for him at the draft and sign him to a 6 year deal at 6 million per

Jordan Staal is a perfect example of where the new age thinking of analytics in hockey loses me.

His fans look at the advanced stats and are very impressed with how much he keeps the puck away from the other team and how much he limits the offense of the other teams best players, but if he isn't putting the puck in the net or helping his team put the puck in the net, to me, he's playing soccer on ice, and while that is valuable, it's not something I am going to overpay for at all.

Yandle didn't impress me much in the playoffs. I kept on saying I wonder if the Rangers regret mortgaging a bit of their future for that. If the Sabres did pick him up I think he would be a good partner for Bogo. Tough defenseman strong in his own end to cover for Yandle 's short comings in his own end.

Yup.

It's the same Jake Gardiner argument I have with people.

If the possession doesn't amount to anything, what is the point exactly?

I'm not sure why people think Bogosian is this defensive stalwart

http://thehockeywriters.c...o-be-better-for-the-jets/

He is just as inconsistent as Yandle, Myers, etc

The hockeywriters is not my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc choice in terms of sources. They are shmucks like you and me writing those articles. Note the Evander Kane article last week.

There is a sports illustrated one that compares him and Myers and says the same thing, they are inconsistent.

Bogosian is going to be at his best if he can skate with the puck and put up some points, he was drafted as a two way defender. He isn't a lock down guy

"In between those injuries, Bogosian’s game ranged from inconsistent at best, to downright dispiriting at worse. Far too often Bogosian was careless with the puck resulting in turnovers in the defensive zone. He wasn’t confident rushing the puck up ice like he was prior to last season."

from a buffalo perspective, insert Myers for Bogo and it looks like something that was published by the buffalo news

Listen, I'm not calling Bogosian a HOFer, but he will be a solid 2nd line D man, who is tough and knows how to play in his own end and is only 24. He is what the Sabres needed to supplement Risto, Zads, Pysyk, Mcabe. Besides Zads they needed more toughness and they got it.

Right, which has been my point all along, we traded Myers for a different version of Myers that hits more but will score less and get injured just as much
