Sweeney would get crucified by fans and media in Boston if he traded Hamilton to Buff. It would not be a good first move as GM by him. I don't see it. They can trade/buy out Kelly to save cap space.

Honestly, they'd rather trade Chara at this point than DH.

Then its a pass. However I would move Zadorov plus for him

I would be fine with Martin on a 3 year deal.
- mhp

There's a chance year 3 becomes dead weight, they could give him a 2 year one and front-load it? Give him 6 next year then 3 the year after?

You're probably right. 3 more season are longer than I would want his 6.5 cap hit on the books. If you could get them to eat $2 million I would do it though.

Yost thinks Dougie Hamilton would look good in Blue and Gold...what would it take? Bruins are in cap hell unless they move Lucic
- Stripes77

dougie would look great in the blue and gold...

does anyone know where I can find the info on the potential for the sabres to throw out two offer sheets?

That would work. Looking ahead a bit I'd throw big money at Keith Yandle next year.

For Hamilton? Yes please. If you can do that without moving any picks and prospects (besides Zadorov) I would do it. That still leaves ammo to acquire a top 6 forward (Grigo plus 21st etc.)

Risto for starters.
- mhp

Eggsactly. Which is a non starter.

Kick the tires on big Z (Chara, that is), for sure.

If they get a top 6 forward this year in a trade I would think Yandle would be a top target in FA next year as well.

Yandle and Risto would look great together as the #1 D unit and on the PP.

Yandle's the one that crossed my mind. They rarely become available, getting him would be huge.

for as much immaturity as Zadorov has shown, his skill-set is pretty intriguing...defense has been his focus and he can lay out a huge hit...but perhaps the biggest upside in his development, imo, lies on the offensive side...

could end up being a two-way beast

And doubtful the Rags re-sign him next year with their cap problems.

If enough people get overpaid you might even have chance to get him this year. They probably don't want to let him walk for nothing. Either that or they do some serious dumping or salary.

He could. I am just thinking if you can get a 21 year old that you know can play top minutes in this league and can produce points like Hamilton I would trade the could be for the already is. Especially when you can pair him with Risto. You're looking at the top pairing for the Sabres for the next 10 years.

They would probably want something similar to what they gave up to get him. Would 31st be enough? Would Yandle resign here?
