Are you daft??

Kessel would be a top line player on ANY team.

Kessel, the player, is fine. Kessel's $8 mil/per for the next 7 years is borderline untradeable. There is no way the Leafs unload that deal on anyone coming off a terrible season PLUS get a team's two best prospects (Pulock AND Dal Colle?!?) in the process.

Manage your expectations a bit. Or hold onto him and bet he bounces back and then trade away.

They can have their dream. Personally, I see Kessel and dion as two very weak character players. The isles need to get a couple bigger players with heart, not two that disappear when things get rough.

Goes back to my milbury comment. DiPietro was all Charles Wang. Get new material, that stuff is old.

I think you forgot this was a message board for hockey. Sorry my opinion doesn't fit in to your fantasy.

the fact you guys think Leafs management will dump him for the sake of making a trade is laughable. I smell another "i told you so" coming when the leafs get a good haul for Kessel but of course when that happens u guys are nowhere to be found.

Gonna disagree with that one. Pretty sure any sane gm would say the same

No one said you couldn't have an opinion. You said you didn't want him, and people called you out in it saying what you want has no bearing on what the isles want or will do.

If you move kessel anywhere other than the isles I'll be relieved and honestly won't care what you got for him. I don't want him on the isles, not even for a 7th round pick. The guy is a cancer.

You dont understand what people are saying. Do u think the Isles brass really care if YOU will be relieved? The isles would be a force with Kessel whether you think it or not. If he ends up an Isle u will buy a Kessel jersey two months later when him and JT are both top 5 in scorig. Stop with the nonsense please

Le sigh ...

Luongo - 35 and under contract to age 43 AND has a contract with severe penalties should he retire early.

Kessel - 27 and under contract to 34 ...

These things aren't the same at all. Kessel has worts but he's an 8 million dollar 1st line winger in today's NHL.

No team is going to take on $56 million for a second-tier star player AND give up something of real "hockey" value unless they have a good chunk of dead money (Semin, Mike Richards, AMac, or, um, Clarkson) to also send back in return.

The Nash comparisons are off-base since his combination size and skill will ALWAYS be sought after in the NHL.

Just my opinion. I think he's a low character guy who isn't a team player and I'd hate to see him on the isles. Is he talented? Hell yes. Is he a guy who's going to put the team first or carry them on his back? I don't ever see him turning into that guy. Quite the opposite. I'd hate having him on the isles. I don't expect anyone to agree with that, but that's my opinion.

I don't think they should trade him this summer at all. Why sell low?

Reading this thread made my blood boil. I understand a lot of people hate the Leafs but the way they devalue our players because they are Leafs is absolutely hillarious. Some of these trade proposals for Kessel are just stupid. We are NOT retaining salary, we are getting a roster player in return with salary, a prospect and a 1st. Any other proposals are just stupid

Kessel and Johnny T would be golden!! I'm just not sure what we could get out of the islanders for him. I'm sure the Leafs brass can come up with something good!
