I think Chia's firing was more based on the way Boston sports work then it was a real "we need to get rid of this guy, and get rid of him now" kind of move. I think it was more because Jacobs came out in the middle of the season and said that heads will roll if we don't make the playoffs. And with all the success in Boston sports (not just Bruins, just Boston in general) people just aren't used to failure. So I think it was mostly the media who were calling for people to be fired, even if it wasn't necessarily the right thing to do. Now I'm not trying to stick up for Chia, as I do think he's made some poor choices over the past few years... But I think we could have been totally fine with him, as long as someone kept his NTC cannon under control. And I think he probably would have kept his job if it wasn't for the brash comments of Jacobs mid way through the season.

The media here in Boston was crying and is still crying about Chia Pet getting fired. A few guys, like Felger, were bashing him, but most are pathetic in there gold colored glasses.

If this team doesn't trade players like Lucic, Ericksson, Marchand, Chara, Krejci or Seidenberg then it was pointless to fire Chia, because this team will be a mediocre team for the next couple years.

Bergy, Hamllton, And Rask are untouchable unless someone wants to get really stupid. Everyone else NEEDS to be on the table though.

Best returns are for Lucic and Chara, second tier are Marchand and Ericksson. Other than that we are not going to get any players that are truly "upgrades."

I wish this would just play through so I would know if I should take this team serious next year or not. It's going to be a long year of not.

Are you saying that the Boston media is not happy with the fact that Chiarelli got fired? If so, that is the exact opposite of what is happening.

Again, I think it's worth pointing out that the team is really not in that bad of a place. We missed the playoffs by one game. We set a record for most points without making the playoffs. We don't have to sell off the whole team. You're basically talking complete rebuild, and that is certainly not necessary.
