This. There are enough in the system right now that we can make some trades, have a few not pan out, and still be fine for the most part depth wise. But, they definitely will need to probably move a few, because with the amount they've drafted over the past 2-3 years, there won't be enough contracts to go around. They did afford themselves some wiggle room by drafting more euros and NCAA kids though because you get an extra year to sign those guys.

I wouldn't worry too much about too many guys and not enough contracts. There will be guys that don't pan out not getting resigned, veterans not being resigned and trades. I would worry more about expansion teams and the expansion draft. If that happens and we have a lot of prospects instead of quality, those expansion teams will poach whoever we can't protect.

Someone I haven't seen discussed amongst 1st-2nd round prospects..

Jeremy Bracco. Huge ability, smallish size, bigger than Enzo though. I know there's some haters who can't stand small, but, Johnny Gudreau.

Check it out. He's ranked 28 in ISS, but I don't think it's nearly out of the question he slips to at least 31. He's absolutely the type of player (elite skill) we need in this organization.

You can only have 50 guys under contract. That's for both your NHL and AHL guys, plus any kids you've already signed that may be going back to Europe or the CHL. It's a legit concern.

That's fun. Does he have any feeling on where he'll fall in the draft?

Not concerned at all. Never seen an NHL team not be able to sign a guy that was integral to the organization because they ran out of room. the bottom 10 contracts are replaceable guys in almost every organization. So Matt Ellis doesn't get signed and a prospect does.

Was the Depres trade as bad as the Forsberg trade? Discuss.

I'm not worried about it, because I'm pretty sure that Murray is going to package up some of the recent picks for more NHL ready guys. He'll move some of the quantity for quality. It's something that's been getting said since before Murray was even hired. LaFontaine said that was the goal, and Murray has carried that sentiment over. The Kane/Myers trade is the perfect example of it.

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly Washington was thinking when they did that. The Despres trade didn't really shock me at all. So, no.

I still believe one of those RW psopects gets tossed in. But I'd really love to see them all play in the AHL before they're traded. But if it's gotta happen, so be it.

At this point, if Bylsma doesn't end up signed, I give up, and will not care less who they hire.

The contract rules state that the team is entitled to it. If the shoe was on the other foot, I'd take it.
