Not a huge fan Granato tbh. I don't know what about him makes him so appealing other than he worked under babcock.

If Bylsma wants to hire assts he's familiar with, Granato would probably be at the top of the list.

That's true, but it doesn't mean it's a good choice.

Let's hope mhp! Like Granato's PP at Detroit, but Scotty Arniel's PP still sticks with me

I would love either Arniel or Teppo back here Irish. Getting Arniel out of New York would prove nearly impossible at this point.

Dan Bylsma is close to becoming the new head coach of the #Sabres. Source suggests deal is "imminent".

If he has a system, which it appears he does, and he can communicate and actually educate the young guys on what he wants we will be fine. Once we are an actual NHL team, if he can't get us to where we want to be, then get someone who can.

Hiring him does us no harm with where we are at, IMO.

Much to learn young grasshopper

Different teams in different places with different short term goals

He had to play the vets in Pittsburgh. They had no bottom 6 depth they were expected to win the cup every year. Their young guys got moved for more veterans at the deadline. I'll take what Yost said over most on here all day long. Sure Bylsma had his faults but to blame him for the Pens failure isn't right. Sherro is mostly to blame there.

Murray's not going to want another Nolan here.. I'm sure it was talked about and brought to his attention that we want our young guys to be the core of this team. We all ready have the 3rd and 4th line depth and we're slowly bringing in the talent in the top two lines. He'll love Eichel and Reinhart who show passion and work ethic to go along with world class talent. And guys like Ennis and Kane will do well when the D are constantly trying to feed them the puck from the blueline.
Plus if Bylsma is as smart as everyone is saying I'm sure he realized after he was fired what did and didn't work in Pittsburgh.

You mean losing 1-0 to the eventual gold medal winner?

His playoff collapse would suggest he blew 3-1, 3-0 series leads. His teams weren't built to win. It's pretty simple. He had to rely on 2 lines and as these playoffs have shown you need to roll 4.

This isn't a Darcy-Ruff scenario though. Murray doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to hold on to a coach for too long if it's not working out.

Regarding the Olympics, I agree. US were the best team in the tourney until the semis. The game was a tight, close contest. I could care less about the Bronze medal game.
