If we traded for a guy like Gibson, I'm ok with him as our 2nd goalie

I'm 1000% in on Gibson.

..he's not a starter yet... but he gon' be.

Are people seriously worried about not having a goalie?

1) Goalies are everywhere
2) We had to chase off 2 goalies last year because they were playing well
3) We aren't in a position to be contenders for a couple of years. There is absolutely no reason to be bringing in some 30-something goalie. If we are to trade for someone it better be a young prospect like Gibson or Lehner.

I spent a few minutes reading some of the posts in here over the last couple of days. I can't believe some of this stuff:

1) Trying to choose between a) Hodgson and b) Carolina's Hodgson when the answer is clearly c) buy Hodgson out NOW while he costs pennies on the dollar.
2) Trading a #1 for Jimmy Howard (cringing). I don't think he would cost you a third (not that I want him in any scenario).
3) Anti Niemi. Ugh.
4) Signing Tarasenko to an offer sheet thinking that the Blues won't match

TM likes big-bodied goalie anyway...

That's why Enroth (who would actually make an awsome "value" UFA signing) won't be entertained.

3 years @ 1.75 mill/yr for Enroth..?

I could live with that. The kid played well, he's hungry.

I also really like Vasilevskiy. I know Tampa likes him, but Bishop isn't going anywhere soon, so it's my hope that he could be available.
Jones in LA scares me a bit BC every Kings goalie looks good & it's such a small sample size with him.
Allen in StL is another guy I really like, but he was the Blues starter in the playoffs. Then again, he was just ok for them, so maybe they'd consider moving him for the right price.
I have ZERO interest in the Ottawa goalies. I want a younger guy, so Anderson is out. Hamburgler was awful in the AHL all year till he got hot in the nhl, but then was average in playoffs. Seems like a flash in the pan to me. And Lehner just can't stay healthy. Pass, pass, pass

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Tampa moves Bishop. They have to pay all the other young stars - why would you keep Bishop around at a large cap hit?

That didn't stop Chicago from letting Niemi go.

Coburn, Ohlund, and either Garrison or Carle will be gone and cheaper d men will be plugged in for the short term IMO

they have a bunch of d prospects

Damage control, they'll probably have to move someone they don't want to at some point

They don't have to pay anyone this summer. But next summer they have Stamkos & Kilorn.
Prob wishful thinking they'd trade Vasilevskiy
He'll likely take over for Bishop in 2 years, when their Cap gets tighter

Callahan
Garrison
Coburn
Carle

I doubt Bishop is ahead of any of those players to be moved for cap relief

1) agree
2) agree
3) meh, i like that its just money
4) agree. plus im not in a hurry to Give away four firsts if they take it.

Should be an interesting summer, maybe not as interesting as if the cap was 68 million, but interesting nevertheless.

At some point they have to pay these guys and you can't have an expensive goalie on the roster when that time comes. Goalies are the new running back.

Many teams have expensive goalies, in fact 3 of the 4 teams left do.

And Andersen will be an expensive goalie on his next contract
I don't get how ppl think u don't need a good goalie?
Neuvirth, Lindback, Enroth, etc...
All these teams are out of the playoffs in the 1st round if any of those guys are in net
I'm not saying we need to get Quick or Lundqvist,
But we need a "good" goalie, or at least a young one with potential to be good (or better)
And yes,
That means we will eventually have to pay more than 3mil for a goalie

(shrug) so what? Better goalies are sitting at home watching the playoffs. And don't confuse salary with quality. There are three star goalies in the league. After that you could throw the next 15 in a hat and pick one.

could 21+31 get us up to 11? Florida doesn't have a 2nd rounder (i think).

They are everywhere and that's the point. Few of these guys are drafted high and they usually aren't touted as huge prospects. Keep trying til you find one. Hell, I'd bring back Neuvirth.

I'd rather have one of those 3 stars, or try and find another, then just hope and pray we will get good goaltending come playoff time

Why does everyone want to move up so bad, it's going to be 3 years or more before the player is ready. move the pick + for a NHL ready player.

You without a shred of doubt need good/great goaltending.

How many 1 goal games have the Rangers won this playoffs? I wonder if they had Enroth how well they'd fair
