There isn't a guy out there I'd be upset they didn't pursue. Very underwhelming class

Top 5 pick next year probably does more for us than anyone available this summer

green, martin, beauchemin, sekera, oduya

if they can sign 2 of them, does a word for the d

up front, aside from williams, beleskey and maybe st. louis there is nothing up front that makes this team closer to a top 8 spot in the east

WNY does not have the patience for another bottom dweller season

the pieces are in place to make this team respectable next season IMO

Not after back to back last place finishes and not drafting 1st overall in either draft.

As for D, Don't need Sekera back and Green is a matador on D but would take 1 of the others.
The forwards you listed basically are the only ones worth mentioning but they will probably command more years than we would like. If 2-3 years is possible, I'd say go for it.

WNY better get some if it wants a cup competitor.

Any team can slap together a team that can make a run for 7th/8th.

eichel, reinhart, kane, girgens up front
risto, pysyk, bogo and big z on the back end

thats a great nucleus to build a contender around IMO

Doesn't necessarily have to be as bad as this year. Increase the win total by 10 and your still probably picking 5th or 6th.

It is, so why waste it by giving a couple of them up for a 2nd liner and spending to the cap with fringe 3rd liners?

I don't think anyone wants to move any of the core he mentioned

I'd move pysyk or z in a package for eberle

but it needs to be a first line winger with upside, and there are not many of them out there

Not that either of these trades would happen straight up but if I were Murray I would call Montreal and inquire about Facale for Hodgeson, we retain 50% of Hodgeson's salary. Montreal was 20th in scoring this year and Hodgeson could of very of only had an anomaly this past season, he was on the worst team in the league. Montreal is going to have to let Facale go at some point, Price isn't going anywhere for a long time.

I would also call Florida and inquire about Mike Matheson for Hodgeson. We might have to add something here, but Florida is deep in defensive prospects and they're quite a low scoring team. It would be the same deal, we retain salary, they get a player that can help them score now, we get a D prospect to put in Rochester.

What is Pysyk's upside?

Great first outlet pass, very calm in his own zone. He is one of those steady under the radar guys that won't hurt you and can put up some points.

A really solid 2nd pairing guy that could play on your first pair in a pinch. He was a casualty due to the Zadorov not being able to go back to juniors.

It seems the Sabres are in the same boat as Edmonton. Edmonton has less quality defensive prospects but still their fair share of youth on the back end. I feel that prospects need to be moved for a few veterans to help balance out the lines.

Plus if Semin doesn't work out he could still be moved, his offensive upside might be tempting for a team that has lost a star player and needs to make the playoffs.
- Dangles13

Yea because the Canes have had such any easy time moving him as well, they can't move him because he stinks and his contract is horrible.

They did struggle to move him this past season but David Clarkson was traded so anything is possible.
