Exactly. As GMTM has said they need to swing for the fences with lower picks because don't need bodies. Unlikely you're getting a top 6 forward in round 3 so it can't hurt to roll the dice here.

Played a full season in Roch with the Amerks 15 years ago. This is very exciting.

This draft is weak, pick 21, 31 and whatever the islanders 2nd us, should be enough to move up 8 or 9 spots.

I would not do that. The only way I am trading Z and 21 is to get a proven NHL player. Not a guy that we hope someday will be a 20 goal scorer in the NHL.

There is a great chance that Rantanen falls way short of your Perry expectations.

23 goals in 194 NHL games , 20 goals in 107 games in the KHL. We don't anymore
" maybe " or "take a chance" players. Those picks can be used to package for a better player, picks do matter to some cap strapped teams.

Since 2000 that number is 5

Gaustad: 71 in 479 games
MacArthur: 41 in 187 games
Gerbe: 29 in 188 games
Kaleta: 27 in 348 games
Foligno: 26 in 192 games

Not saying these are glowing figures, just pointing out that in 11 drafts (2000-2010), there were 11 3rd round picks made (66 total 3rd round or later picks) and out of all those picks there are barely any players putting up those numbers.

That's not the report I've read. A ton of high quality talent up front in the top 15-20 and a lot of solid depth into the third round. 2013-esq

I'm 100% people just look at his numbers and say boy he sucks he is still very young already has the defense game of Sean Couturier he could hit the next level for his offensive game

And other people say the opposite. None of us are professional hockey scouts, so I don't think we should be making a determination of that one way or the other.
