One of the funnier aspects about all the Babrumors was that he'd never take a rebuilding job. He just took the biggest one in the entire league. Shows how much the media actually know. (frank), Bobby M said Toronto was totally out 24 hours in advance.

They're trying to get a name guy so I don't think they WILL go after my candidate, but they aren't going to be winning squat for a couple years anyway so they SHOULD go after my candidate. I suggest the Sabres inquire about former Edmonton Oilers Interim Coach Todd Nelson. For those who don't follow the Oilers closely, he did a fantastic job turning around the Oilers and their best young players after they turfed Eakins. His Power Play was among the best in league by efficiency and by underlying numbers and that has been his calling card for years in the AHL too. He has lots of experience dealing with young developing players and winning with them. The Sabres want a sexy pick, but they could do a lot worse than hiring Todd Nelson as they transition from the Tank back to Respectability.

See, I disagree. It's a really quick way to ruin a good burger. I'm not a picky eater by any means, so it's pretty rare for me to say I won't eat something.

The Krout stole my thunder, but I like Matt Henderson's (not something I thought I'd ever say) idea of Todd Nelson.

I'm not saying bam hire him, but I think he's certainly worth a look. Our pp has been dreadful for years and he's certainly exceeded once he turned that team around. The OILERS had one of the best pp's. That's impressive. Had the Oilers had Todd the entire season, I think they could have finished on the wrong end of the playoff bubble, and for a team who had 2 AHL goalies and a beer league defense, that's pretty impressive. I don't have many coachalytics on the guy, but I'd hope Murray gives him a call.

I know some of us aren't high on DeBoer either, but he did some great things with the moderately talented Devils in 2011. Once he lost Parise and Kovi, he was left with a dumpster fire and a bag of month old mcdonalds hamburgers, which you can argue are still edible in a technical sense.
