Might as well trade the pick to Ottawa for the Hamburger.

I have to throw this out there to all the Buffalo fans, and those who are saying that Babcock played them.

From all indications, the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs offered Babcock the same money. Babcock chose Toronto over Buffalo even though Toronto is probably in a much worse situation right now in terms of a rebuild. Babcock admitted that when he first went into the interview with the Leafs he had absolutely no intention on signing there and that he was doing it as a service. However, after hearing the vision and the plan for this team from Shanahan, he left with intrigue. After that, Shanahan was relentless in driving that message into Babcocks head. He flew to Prague, just to talk to him. If they ran into each other over there, he would bring it up. Hell, they even went out for beers and discussed it further. After coming back from Prague, Babcock said that the thought of coaching the Maple Leafs consumed him.

Sorry Buffalo, Mike Babcock didn't play you; The Toronto Maple Leafs Front Office OUTplayed you.

I would love for them to move up to 8 or 9 and grab Rantanen

I think I want either Provorov or Konecny more than anyone else in the mid range.

I think Rantanen is the third best player in the draft and he perhaps plays 100 feet better then anyone in the draft

"A strong three-zone playmaker who is also defensively responsible"

There's a lot of scouts who greatly disagree.

It's obvious he wanted to coach in Canada and his wife would have rather lived in Toronto.

I think the vision is the same, eventually win the cup is it not?

If Sweeney calls Murray and offers him Chara for a 2016 3rd rd pick, what would you do?
- navinrjohnson

I do it and run.

Chara would be great for all the young guys. But I wouldnt put him on the top pairing

She still could have lived in Toronto if he coached Buffalo.

That said I'm not angry with what happened. Good luck to Toronto as the rivalry needs to be renewed. I do take both Babcock and Murray at what they said as fact. You can usually tell when someone is lying and they both sounded genuine about the whole situation.

Agreed. Loved how Murray called out Paul Hamilton, Schoop and Bulldog yesterday though.

"I understand you need to fill air, but how do you get what happened completely wrong" "I can understand being off by a bit, but not even remotely close"

Burmistrov 107 KHL games and 20 goals, 63 points in 107 KHL games. 23 goals in 194 NHL games, why do we want this scrub ?

ive read where he had a nice on ice connection with Evander Kane. Jets blogger mentioned that Buffalo might wanna take a stab at him because he may be a cheap lottery ticket so to speak.

Also- (and this is in no way a plug for Burmistrov)- isnt it widely accepted that scoring in the KHL is tough to come by. Lots of bogged down hockey is my understanding. Dont recall anyone with eye popping stats off the top of my head

If we could get him for a third it couldn't hurt to give him a shot. I have a feeling we would know in a month or two if he was a fit.

That's where I'm at. The Sabres have four of them, and they won't need to use one on Mike Babcock now.

The only knowledge I really have of the KHL is that financially it's in serious trouble.

If the Sabres do go the Byslma route they may have to forfeit one there, if Pittsburgh so chooses to enforce it.

The probability of the 3rd rounder panning out isn't in our favor either, so really it's not like it would be a huge loss if he didn't end up working out. It's low risk, but could be high reward.
