I really don't understand why Sabres fans care if other fans or media members(even our own) criticize the Sabres for tanking. It's what we wanted, it's what had to be done. If you have haters, that means you're doing something right. Screw pleasing people and just win.

The Oilers are NOT the rule but the exception in a rebuild. They have been inexcusably bad. The have refused to take defense and goaltending seriously. They waited too long to make changes at coach and management. Much as you could say the Sabres did with Lindy/Darcy.

Yeah...I pretty much said they took too long, thanks for not reading. And your wrong about the D and goaltending, but that's okay, their common misconceptions.

Youre WAY WAY better than that. I can play this silly game too: one wears a black jersey at home and another wears a maroon jersey at home.

The relevant point is that their offensive production is very similar, as are their contributions to the overall success of their teams.

And as you well know, the "bother" can play the dot just as well as the wing.

It's not though not even close really.

Kopitar is a .893 ppg player
ROR is .576 ppg player

One is more physical and takes very little penalties the other is said to be a pain in the ass to play against but not as physical and takes very little penalties.

Honestly I'd take Kopitar over ROR everyday all day. No question who the better player is. Not to say ROR can't become him but as of now it's no question.

They really don't have any other option than to basically do what every other weak team has done the last couple of years, purge your roster and draft. The one bad thing about it, they will be applauded for it while we were crucified for it.

I totally see that happening.

If Kopitar was playing for a coach that allows him to play an offensive game, he is a top 5 player in the NHL

I think the Kings defensive style is even more boring then the Bruins

According to Wikipedia, Ryan O'Reilly is a Sabre.

EDIT: And because this site is a huge steaming pile most of the time, I can't post the link at the moment.

The oilers looked like a credible team last year when Roy was inserted in the lineup

Improve the special teams, grab a D man and they will make the playoffs with ease next season, perhaps a top 4 seed in the west

What's the GM situation up there?
- jochfr

Don't have a GM right now, but when we do, his role will be more of a middle man than decision maker.

Definitely not saying it's credible. As a matter of fact, it was more or less to point out how much of a joke it is.

Umm...the Oilers made mistakes, but you said they ignored Defense and goaltending. Were you talking about the draft, where they picked Marincin, Klefbom and Nurse, or free agency?

Yeah , Zero chance of that, unless the D and goalie he speaks off are Doughty and Quick, or Weber or Rinne.

I dont think they really ignored it; they just waited too long to do it. It's known that developing Defense/Goalies take longer than wingers/Cs.

I get the Bergeron comparisons. They are similar but Bergeron is still the better player IMO.

The Kopitar ones are way off base.

man talk about a misconception on babcock part in this whole process. could have certainly handled this a lil more professionally to say the least but sending all of buffalo's media to toronto for his announcement to toronto as the next head coach was funny and the hard questions that was asked was even better.
wonder what the game between toronto and buffalo is going to be like? to be a duzzy for sure.will mark this one on the counter for sure.

- redsfanhere

sounds like babcock would have taken the money from buffalo if it was the best offer. when toronto matched the money, he looked for another perk that murray was unlikely to match, and then took the leafs offer. im not at all upset about it, pretty sure the roster control thing was more about highlighting a perk to justify taking torontos offer. not sure if you ever have been to buffalo for a leafs-sabres games, the games are probably a third leafs fans. i do hope that more fans hold onto their tickets now, dont want the neutral site feel for the games against the leafs now.
