Of all the candidates talked about here, I actually find Kevin Dineen the least underwhelming.

All due respect, 89, you put those words in your own mouth. A high percentage of your posts are "he sucks," "he's a bum" "he's a has been" or in the case of Hitchcock, "he's a fat pig"

And they are, why settle for crap and has been players. People don't want ROR but they want more 3rd line players. Hitchcock is a Fat Pig and has gotten fired from every job he has had, 1 cup he got and he shouldn't even have gotten that. He's done nothing with all the teams he has had and the Blues being the most talented.
- SABRES 89

I don't think the Sabres should settle for crap. But they can only get the guys that are available.

I would take ROR in a heartbeat. I have pointed out on many occasions that his stats compare favorably to Bergeron, Kesler and Kopitar, all of whom are a little beneath Toews. (Their salaries all bear this out, too.) I know we would have to sign ROR to a new deal, but if yesterday's farce shows us anything, it's that Pegula will in fact dole out the dinero if he wants a guy bad enough.

Well I like you, cant stand people who are always changing opinions based on the majority. People who tell it like it is are ok in my book. Keep keeping it real!

I'm not talking about Nolan. Of course he will want to be sure that he trusts them and has a similar philosophy.

This doesn't mean he needs to "know them well" from working together previously.

- Der Kaiser

Oh of course. I was more adding to your post than responding to you.. should have mentioned that. But yeah I thought you guys meant Nolan.

It appears that it is ok for leaf fans to trash Buffalo, but we are not allowed to jab back.

When the hell did I move to France?

I would too, for what the Avs would consider an extremely underwhelming trade offer. That contract blows.

It's a form of respect and flattery, at least on my part, and a sign that some of us actually read, respond and look forward to your posts.

But, if you're going to be a b!tch about it, whatever.

The great thing about America is we can all say this without being concerned about going to jail for having an opinion.

I'll be honest, I always enjoy BHH. I hardly ever agree with it and he can border on the ridiculous, but it's always a form of enjoyment.

By all accounts, they were convinced they had a deal in place.

Pegula didn't become a billionaire by being naive.

- grand-magus

This isn't the Oil industry...and owners have proven to lose all sense when the fan boy in them takes over.... What did the Sabres do the first summer Pegula was owner? I could be wrong but I think it was Erhoff and Lieno.

He's nothing like Anze Kopitar, please stop using that comparison. He plays like Bergeron but has accomplished no where near what Bergeron has or even had at 24 years old

Pegula said hey Darcy, go buy us some players. Ehrhoff was actually pretty good for us. Not great, but pretty good. Leino fell off the map. Kinda unexpected but poop happens. Is what it is. Moving on.

Sure

One is a 6 foot 4 inch physical center with outstanding puck skills

The bother is a 6 foot 0 inch winger that is not physical AT ALL and is a very smart defensive minded player

You missed the point. This is a hobby for Pegula, not a business. If he thinks talking contract with an NHL Coach is the same as talking with a consultant or a refinery chief then he is in for a rude awaking.
All NHL owners are great businessmen .....very few are great Hockey men.
