There's still a few scouts and some higher ups I wish they would have taken an axe to, but one guy I was really pulling for was Devine. Apparently he wasn't too keen on the AGM job and chose to be demoted to DPP, which is basically the guy who feeds the AGM and GM with information. I think he has a pretty impressive resume and I was thrilled that Murray kept him around.
- TheSabresTaco

Based on what we saw in the video from the Risto draft, I have a feeling Devine was already starting to build the same type of team that Murray is trying to put the finishing touches on. Murray seems to have lucked out in joining a team that had a guy with a similar vision.

Cunneyworth should be be named the HC in Rochester. No brainer.
- mhp

I am ok with that

have a competent coach ready to move up if needed

I just do not want him behind the bench for the big club

McLean would be horrible choice IMO, he looked completely lost before getting fired by the Sens. They need a bigger name coach and not another has been.
- SABRES 89

Any "big name" coach that's available is also a "has been." If he wasn't, he'd still have a job.

NHL coaches go through a wash, rinse, repeat type cycle. Some have a longer life cycle than others, but in general, every 5-8 years or so they're probably going to be looking for a new job.

Bylsma... He did just coach team USA and Eichel to a bronze medal in a tourney where they were clearly not the most talented team....

MacLean's history with Murray and as Ottawa's HC there would be the likely choice imo. He could also bring in Richardson as an assistant. After the Babcock debacle, Murray will want to hire people he knows well and trusts. I'd be fine with this.

Wasn't MacLean a Jack Adams winner a few years ago?

It would be a mistake to limit the search this way. Get the best available person for the job. Don't let a bad experience with one person impair the willingness to pick other good people.

How many days did the clown go down? I saw traces of some of his deleted posts last night - he got the screws.

He was an assistant. Todd Richards from the Blue Jackets was actually the HC. But, he does have some familiarity with Eichel due to all the Team USA stuff in general. I'm sure their paths have crossed more than once.

I know you hate basically everyone out there... just curious what big name you'd like. Bylsma? Boucher? DeBoer?

They've all done good things in the playoffs and they've all been fired.

Murray didn't even hire Nolan. He signed him to make sure the Sabres sucked last season. When he actually interviews people, he's going to make sure he trusts them and has a similar philosophy with him.

I would love dave Tippett, the Sabres need to convince arizona to let him walk. It would help their tank in getting Auston Matthews.

I'm not talking about Nolan. Of course he will want to be sure that he trusts them and has a similar philosophy.

This doesn't mean he needs to "know them well" from working together previously.

All due respect, 89, you put those words in your own mouth. A high percentage of your posts are "he sucks," "he's a bum" "he's a has been" or in the case of Hitchcock, "he's a fat pig"

And they are, why settle for crap and has been players. People don't want ROR but they want more 3rd line players. Hitchcock is a Fat Pig and has gotten fired from every job he has had, 1 cup he got and he shouldn't even have gotten that. He's done nothing with all the teams he has had and the Blues being the most talented.

He would seem to be the right choice. I think he's working with the kids down there now.
