I think we're all going to be shocked at what his ceiling is both in points and value. The guy is going to be really, really special.

It depends
If Girgensons ends up playing wing in the top6, he's shown he has talent to produce.
But if he's our 3rd line "defensive" center, his offensive opportunities will be limited

Per Mike Babcock, he and #RedWings general manager Ken Holland "are talking tomorrow."

I can't see him leaving the Wings.

Imo, it's possible Babcock is holding out on an announcement to see if a mini bidding war starts between now and then.

That's part of what makes him so special. The fact that they can put him in either role and know he'll be successful is huge.

If his wife is the " boss " then money shouldn't matter.

Then let the (frank)er stay in Detroit.

I know it's business, but (frank) off.

I haven't followed the situation all that closely but it just seems like something an agent would advise his client to do. Especially since the two front runners are bitter rivals Toronto and Buffalo who both desperately need to get better.

I agree, why keep playing games. I'm tired of hearing he's trying to get the best deal.

The Leafs will sell there souls for anything to get better, the Sabres don't have to do that. We have a very good team and with Eichel coming on board it looks very good.

Cody Hodgson is an irreversible bum who should be given one more year to increase his trade value by keeping up with his lifetime pace of 30 goals/82 games, and then be bought out before he turns 26.

I think that says it all, right?

Cody Hodgeson < ? = ? > ? ROR = Bergeron ~ Kopitar < Toews.

Except for the contract situation.

Everyone see that Pierre LeBrun seems to think it's Buffalo or Detroit in this race here? FWIW

2 sides are not close on a deal
not close on a philosophy moving forward

it's like a last ditch effort to save a 10 year marriage that both sides know is over

Still to be determined if he has the ability to shut down guys like Crosby & Stamkos
If not, maybe he moves to the wing & Larsson could be that guy?
Or maybe we just role 3 lines and Reinhart & Eichel will match up against other teams top lines?

One reason I think we need a good Xs & Os type coach is to figure stuff like that out.
It's not just getting the right players,
We have to use them correctly as well

This is a lot of thinking. Also, I'm unsure if Cody Hodgson deserves to be in this mathematical equation. Semin, Kessel, Vanek perhaps?

I think it's been that all along. Nobody wants to inherit Toronto's roster right now, if they were in better shape roster and talent wise (along with the 2nd overall pick) they would probably be top consideration. Detroit isn't going to pony up the $$ that Buffalo is so I can see Holland telling him here is what we are offering to give you, if not good luck in Buffalo.

I think that's what it was all along
Thing is...
Does Babcock think all our young talent trumps Nyquist, Tatar, Larkin, Sheehan, etc?
I think as far as forwards go, I'd actually choose Detroit's group. They're pretty loaded up front.
The place we are much better though is our defense.
If he comes to Buffalo, it's BC he really like Bogosian, Ristolainen, Zadorov & McCabe
IMO, of course

Quite confident he's telling holland tomorrow he's leaving. Barnaby is on to something
