so, if my math and dates are correct, 89 said that he heard from his source that Babcock will be in Buffalo Thursday. He told others that he should know by Wednesday, the 20th, of his decision. Are the stars aligning?

Per hockeyfights.com, the Sharks' John Scott will retire from hockey to be the next head coach of the Buffalo Sabres.

"I always admired the way John scared the beejesus out of the opposition", Sabres owner Terry Pegula said, "and we're hoping - guaranteeing - that John will scare our players into playing their tookus's off this year".

Scott will reportedly earn $150,000 and a lifetime supply of those wonderful "no pinch, no sweat, no stink" underwear from the Duluth Trading Company.

Shopping for a home? lol

So from the way things have been going in Buffalo sports, can we really give enough love to the Pegulas? Even without Babcock (and I do want him here), they are moving the Buffalo teams back up! Got to love that family, cause for me, staying in Buffalo was the largest step, but this does not hurt at all! Bring us a couple titles and they will be on top of the (buffalo) world!

And that's good news for the Sabres and their fans, "It can be tough loosing all the time,”

As opposed to tighting all the time?

Not saying he wont develop into one, but you cant peg him as a top 6 forward right now. If he throws up 45-50 points next year playing 18 mins a night, knock yourself out

Seriously? When Pommer was waived Everyone thought he was trash. and he was well behind Girgs Learning/performance curve.

He will be a 30 goal....60-70 point guy on the second line. More in the mold of a Drury than elite scoring center/winger

I'm sure he will go there or NYR. He should want to build with a team that will be a dynasty but he may have the option to join the end of a dynasty (Blackhawaks).

I can't wait until we become that team that signs all these players for league minimum (even if for only 2 years) to add depth and keep the cup chances as high as possible.

We should target Patrick Sharp from Blackhawks, he would be nasty in our (or any teams) top 6!

Fair enough. Another top 6, experienced D man, and any NHL ready goalie, Sabres should be pushing for the playoffs.

Funny, going there this evening and that is what peaked my interest on the menu. Sounds like I can't go wrong.

I'm on the fence about bringing in another vet Dman. If you do that, you're pushing out one of the young guys. I'd almost rather just let them grow this year by playing because we all know that they're not making the playoffs. Let them get the experience and grow into the vet Dman we need. Without even bringing anyone in we have:

Weber
Gorges
Ristolainen
Bogosian
Pysyk
Ruhwedel
McCabe
Zadorov

McCabe can go back to the A, not sure if Ruhwedel needs to clear waivers or not. Zadorov could probably go to the A as well, but there's definitely a logjam of sorts. It'll be interesting to see what they do.
