If they buy him out this summer, he's going to cost 1/3 his contract. The opportunity to hedge a bet like that is tough to say no to.

This is sort of how I felt about Ehrhoff, you disagreed....why?

Still don't think he's worth buying out yet.

To clarify, I mean Hodgson.

Grigorenko
Reinhart
Kane
Hodgson
Moulson
Gionta

There's your top 9

One of grigorenko or Reinhart likely starts in Rochester, if Grigorenko isn't traded (which I think he is imo)

And Hodgson is likely dealt if someone would take the contract

Me neither, but I won't be upset if they do.

Personally, I think it's bad asset management. Hodgson is 24 and has proven he can score. Buying him out is not what you do if you are a good GM IMO, you make him into an asset again.

Ultimately, it's on Hodgson and the coach

Grigorenko will never make it to Rochester, he'll be snapped up on waivers

I can almost guarantee you that doesn't happen and you can save this post to your favorites. He's tradeable.

I'd take him in Philly.

Or you could ship him to Philly, take RJ Umberger back at 50% of his cap hit, and be stuck with him for only this season and next season.

It's a shame too. I think another half year there could be good for him.

Grigorenko has to clear waivers in order to play in Rochester.

I'd guess he'd be claimed.

Well considering Babcock is meeting with more teams I don't like our chances

I think tyler ennis and other players highlight some good amateur scouting on the sabres end. Ennis was the 26th pick and is on the canada world team. Girgensons was also a mid first rounder and looks to be very promising. Risto is a bit different being picked at 8 but still not a super high pick and looks to be a career top 2 guy. Obviously theyre all first rounders but we hit on almost all of our first rounders in the past 6-7 years, ignoring kassian. Huge positive IMO that we were able to get guys like ennis, girgensons, zadorov, and risto without picking in the top 5 for 3+ years.

I agree. Question- if lucic didn't truck miller, do we take Kassian in that draft?

Them being out of it now makes no difference though, they were never a threat.

Any contract offer is a threat.
