I hope we have a guy somewhere in our system like Hjalmarsson. He's very underrated IMO.
- HonkFortheGoose

I think Bogosian can potentially fill that role if he ever becomes a smart player.

I'm hoping it ends up

Ristolainen/Very good offensive defensemen
Bogosian/McCabe
Zadorov/Pysyk

When Seabrook was Ristolainen's age, he had 24 points in 81 games

Seabrook didnt start playing in the NHL until he was 21

So he turned 21 that season, Risto turned 20 this season. Therefore, Risto played in two calendar years before Seabrook played his first NHL game.

Babcock is leaning towards re-signing with the Detroit Red Wings on a short-term basis, a source told the Star.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not.

Jack Eichel has yet to play an NHL game, yet he's still compared to some of the best players in the game because of his skill set.

Ristolainen was a top 10 pick in one of the strongest drafts in the last decade. Comparing him to a very good player in Seabrook isn't that much of a stretch.

- sbroads24

I admit, I forgot to use sarcasm font.

Evander Kane was a top pick in his draft, and I'm not pointing my finger at you directly, but there are several(other) people(as well) on this board who refuse to give him any credit or comparisons to players who are top 30 in the league at their position.

So what, Risto was a top-10 pick and now he's Seabrook but Kane was a Top-5 pick and he's Drew Stafford?

He turned 21 in April. He played a full season at 20, his second season at 21.

He's one year ahead. Ristolainen is an October birthday. He will be 21 less than 10 games into the season

Okay than ristolainen was 19 thus year. You go by calendqr years and draft dates. Simple fact is ristolainen played his first year after he was drafted. Seabrook didn't touch the ice until the third year after he was drafted.

You know what, at this point, I hope he stays in Ann Arbor and the Red Wings miss the playoffs next year and Datsyuk and Zetterberg both retire and he's stuck in a (frank)ing re-build/re-tuning in Detroit while we stay young and get dominant.

I was a year off. When Seabrook was 20, which Ristolainen was 20 all this season, Seabrook had 32 points in 69 games. I guess he had a better rookie year than sophomore season

If this is true, for a short term basis, maybe he doesn't want the Buffalo job now or at all or wants the Toronto job after they rebuild? Who knows, I'm sick of this story and can't wait until it's over one way or the other, most likely him staying in Detroit.

Again it goes by calendar years and draft years. Not the age they are playing in the nhl.

I don't really get the difference. My main point is that Seabrook wasn't a world beater at Ristolainen's age.

I just think that your love for Risto after a 20 point season and un-love for Kane, who's potted 30, is still 23, plays physical and was stuck on the ATLANTA THRASHERS and Winnipeg Jerts for the past 5 years is ridiculous. I like Risto, but we need to see more of him before we start comparing him to a guy like Seabrook.

For all we know, this could be Ristolainen's ceiling and he was just more NHL-ready at a young age.

BTW, Evander Kane's first 5 seasons look awfully similar to Max Afinogenov's. And before Lindy Ruff made it his life's mission to head-(frank) Max, I was at the edge of my seat every single time the guy stepped on the ice. Can we compare them now?

Actually he had 32 points in 69 gp but that was the 05/06 season and the game was way way different from a scoring stand point.

05/06 Seabrook was 20 going on 21
14/15 Risto was 20 to start the season.

Good, so he can look like an ass for not coming here 6 times a year. I'm over it, bring on Binghamton's finest*.

There isn't one IMO.

At the same age they were very similar in their development.

On can't help when their parents fornicated nor which country.

Had Seabrook been a Euro it is quite possible he could have been in the NHL after getting drafted. Again not his fault there is a stupid transfer agreement.

Did 39 say something about flyers or edm getting their coach today or did he say babs would be deciding by this weds
- TheSabresTaco

Taco Bell, Just recieved a call. The sabres believe they are getting Babcock, it all depends on Babcock what he wants. The sabres gave him a great offer and believe it is down to them and red wings. They believe he wants a new challenge and from there meetings they think they will get him, time will tell
