This is a like a very poor man's version of LeBron James' "The Decision".

Agreed, mostly.

Understandable, yet annoying.

The reports were it was going to be Wednesday. He is sitting down with Holland tomorrow, sitting down with the family tomorrow night, and making his decision, to be announced on Wed.

Risto is awesome. Him being as good as he is probably is one of the main reasons they moved Myers
- sbroads24

I just don't see how you can say a second year player who hasn't scored more than 20 points in a season is a more talented version of a regular 30/40 point defenseman who's scored approximately 500 point in 700 games, which is a phenominal ppg. average for a defender in today's NHL.

It's also what Elliotte Friedman just said during the intermission.

Put it this way, if the Sabres are ever to bring a Cup to this city, they absolutely need him to be, or find a #1 defenseman from somewhere else. If it isn't Ristolainen, he isn't on this roster.

The difference in his game from the beginning of the year to the end was huge. He developed nicely this year and was playing a TON of minutes before the season was over. Kid's gonna be a pain to play against for a long time.

Try 300. I think you're overselling Seabrook. Don't get me wrong, he's a guy I'd love to have, but he's not the offensive juggernaut you seem to think he is.

500 points? I think you're almost 200 over.

And didn't you just compare Tyler Johnson to 3 Hall of Fame caliber players?

Last 15 games or so he was excellent.

In the middle of the year he had a tough time, but it's the Sabres

That or they just need 3-4 really good ones, line Anaheim has.

It happens with young guys though. I couldn't be mad about that goal he scored against Boston late in the year. I just couldn't get upset about seeing one of our young guys playing well. Thankfully they still ended up in last.

I must have. Either way. I'm not saying Risto is as good yet. Just that's the caliber of player I think he will become.

Seabrook I'd say is a top 15-30 Defensemen in the league. I think Risto could eventually get there

lol you literally said he is a more talented version of Seabrook.

I like the player and he showed some flash, but you're being pretty optimistic. If his career mirror's Seabrook's, I'd be happy. But, we had about 5 defensemen since the second to last lock-out (wow, that's (frank)ed; second to last lock-out) who looked equally as impressive with a similar sample size. Risto seems legit, but so did Sekera, for a minute. Anyone remember Gragnani in the playoffs that one year? That one time Nathan Paetsch didn't fall or give up the puck when doing a spin-o-rama? TYLER MYERS??????

Dennis Persson anyone? Drew Schiestel? T.J Brennan? Granted, they never played as much or as good in the organization as Risto, but all were relatively high picks.

Plus, he never got past a 62 overall in my NHL 14 be a GM mode.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not.

Jack Eichel has yet to play an NHL game, yet he's still compared to some of the best players in the game because of his skill set.

Ristolainen was a top 10 pick in one of the strongest drafts in the last decade. Comparing him to a very good player in Seabrook isn't that much of a stretch.

I hope we have a guy somewhere in our system like Hjalmarsson. He's very underrated IMO.
