Jason Pomminville is a top 15 RW in this league please do not compare Hodgson and Girgorenko to him again. Pommer also is one of the most responsible wingers as well.

I was shocked that guys like Callahan and Dustin Brown played in the Olympics over Pominville

Him playing in Buffalo and being captain when they started the tear down process hurt his credentials IMO. He is probably the most underrated player in the league

The guy that played at a 50 point pace once he got traded?
- sbroads24

"On pace" is just a fancy saying for "haven't finished the job". That's fine that he can get hot and score points, but he has to be responsible in his end above all else. Watching him play defensively in the playoffs almost made me want to pull my hair out. But I remembered he doesn't play for the Sabres :'D

I would actually enjoy Hodgson to be on the wing with Girgensons and Larsson. That would be a pretty productive 3rd line. I kind of want to see Gionta play on the second line with Reinhart.

I know, I know, but hear me out. I think it would do Reinhart a lot of good to play with a leader in Gionta. Let's not forget this upcoming year is still pretty experimental, I think Reinhart would really be if it more playing with Gionta rather than Hodgson, Girgensons, Grigorenko, etc..

- awildmudkip

This is basically what I was saying with the switch Girgs/Reinhart thing.

Moulson - Reinhart - Gionta
Grigs - Girgs - Hodgson

No real 3rd/2nd line, play them pretty evenly so start off.

Leaves Foligno - / - Larsson for 4th line.

You're missing the part where Larsson is playing with Girgensons and Grigorenko not Hodgson.

Basically he is saying Hodgson doesn't belong in the top 9, like most of us have been.

Totally agree! Except I really like Larsson on the 3rd line. I think he brings that much more of an impact! Then again, the thought of "wow, we're running out of roster space for all these promising players" is something we haven't had in quite some time

To be fair, he's wouldn't the first player to get that kind of shot in the arm at the trade deadline and not maintain it, nor would he be the last.

Actually the person I quoted said he would enjoy HODGSON with Girgs and Larsson.

Honestly, I don't care at this point. If you think him scoring close to 50 points as a 19 year old rookie, coincidentally the last time he actually was on a competent team was a fluke , than so be it.

The Jets probably are going to trade Byfuglien or move him permanently to forward because Myers and Trouba are both better than him

All I said was a line with Pommers, Hodgson (the new fav guy to hate and player being discussed) and Vanek (known for disappearing and no defensive play) was nowhere near as bad as you are making out my proposed line of Grigs - Girgs - Hodgson to be.

I even said Hodgson wouldn't have to be center--less defensive responsibility.

Pommers/Girgs - The responsible two-way one.

Vanek/Grigs - Grigs would even have the edge as far as defensive play goes

Hodgson/Hodgson - Same person

Line A wasn't a defensive nightmare that crippled our team, Line B wouldn't be either.

Pommer is much better than Girgensons

Vanek wasn't nearly as bad in our own zone as you think he would just make dumb passes that ended up in our net, Grigorenko is not as good as Vanek in our own zone, Vanek won a lot more puck battles than Grigorenko has. Hodgson playing the wing has turned out worse defensive play than Hodgson playing center.

Call last year an anomaly if you want but he is still not a top 6 forward he is barely putting up 45 points a year. On a playoff team he is scratched especially come playoff time

If he sucks as much as everyone here claims, wouldn't people who are professional scouts and coaching staff feed some more information to the general manager and say "yeah, he's absolutely garbage despite still being young and having upside with a friendly cap hit. We should just buy him out."

Didn't he produce fairly well for Vancouver when they went on their run? I agree Hodgson is not a solid top 2 line guy, but he can produce in the right fit.

If he produced as well as you think why did they move him?

There is a reason he is a candidate for a buyout.

They moved him because they had Sedin and Kesler down the middle and they felt the need to get tougher after Boston bullied them in the cup final.

That's why they wanted Kassian
