I'm hoping the leafs grab marner now. Strome has been quiet, and Marner was the best player on his team by a country mile. look at how they folded when he got hurt
Marner
185pts in 127 regular season (1.46)
25pts in 16 playoff (1.56)
Strome
168 pts in 128 regular season (1.31)
31 pts in 33 playoff (0.94) |

many here were predicting fighting for the playoffs? false
most here thought we were gonna be terrible after only signing winnik and santorelli, and keeping the same team and coach that imploded last year. - GardinerExpress
I would say the majority of us felt we would fight for a playoff spot. Most felt we would fall *just* short.
In October and November many people were talking about how our new and improved bottom 6, with Winnik and Santorelli, was going to prevent the annual collapse this time.

yeah, like i said they got him for a second - the_eye
and scrivens (traded for a 3rd) and frattin, who had some value at the time.
saying they got him for a 2nd implies they only got him for a 2nd. this is untrue

I remember a lot of people worried about how we were getting dominated in shots against under carlyle. opinions changed when we went 10-0-1 though |

garbage and garbage, the only thing there of value was the second
so yeah, traded for a second |

comparing marner to daigle?
who was the last scoring sensation to be a bust? |

I think the problem has been, and is, a character issue more than a talent issue.
The Leafs were actually quite a good team when they got on a bit of a roll and confidence was high.
The problem was that they had zero character and completely and utterly collapsed as soon as adversity hit.

that pick ended up being 63rd overall because edmonton was poopty..how is that garbage. |

a far sight worse than that 37 overall |
|
|
|
the Leafs got him for a second, wtf are you talking about? - the_eye
The leafs didn't get him for just a second.
Not that measuring his value now to what they paid for him when he was a 23 year old back up on one of the better teams in the league would be an intelligent comparison anyways... |

so La ended up getting 37,63 and a piece of the gaborik deal but thats pretty much just a 2nd? |

I'd trade Bernier for Edmonton's 2nd rd pick, 33rd overall, if we can grab Mackenzie Blackwood.
Reimer/Gibson NHL
Bibeau/Sparks AHL
Blackwood in Juniors - GardinerExpress
Thought you guys were gonna take Godla with one of your later round picks after his showing at the world juniors? Anyway, i don't know why a team that needs a goalie doesn't just pick a bunch of them in the later rounds? Seems to be some un written rule where teams can only pick one goalie per draft. Odds of finding a starting goalie in the late rounds is better than finding a forward or d-man that will actually play in the NHL. |

and if it was me, i would have rather kept the second and flipped Scrivens for the third |

again, how does it matter what LA ended up with?
the only thing of value the Leafs gave up was a second |

so if the leafs gave up a 2nd, pair of 3rd's, 4th,5th,6th etc just a 2nd?
so scrivens was irrelevant? |

he wasn't?
he wasn't tradeable until he played behind a stacked LA team that is very stingy defensively
you think the Leafs could have got a third for him? |

then there is a huge problem in 2 years when they have to let most of em walk.

maybe. he had decent stats with us and was young and cheap.
obviously edmonton was desperate enough to offer up a 3rd.
Vancouver was willing to take him and a 3rd for Luongo |

I think it's pretty early to run bernier outta town. someone yesterday mentioned habs fans wanting price gone. I remember friends who couldnt believe they traded Halak.
from 2008 to 2013 prices sv% was .905,.912,.923,.916,.905
Bernier will not become price, but a .917SV% as a leaf isnt poop |
