Chiarelli can't force free agents to sign here or vets to waive NMC's anymore than MacT could. I have no doubt goaltending will be addressed but getting that top pair D man won't be easy.

Regardless , this team won't make the playoffs this year, and I won't be joining the idiotic Mob next year calling for PC's head.....but there will be some, And we already know who they are.

Impatient mob mentality (leafs syndrome) is not going to ever go away unfortunately. I dealt with CrustyRooster earlier in the same issue about letting LD develop in the AHL. Why should him and Nurse be already included as NHL players? What is the down side of looking at things with the plan to let them have a year in the minors to adjust?

Too many people expect every draft pick to become the next Oilers saviour. It doesn't happen overnight. Do I have way more confidence in the abilities of Bob Nicholson and Chiapet? Absolutely. But, just because they are here isn't going to make a guy like Weber turn around and demand to be traded to Edmonton.

The biggest challenge is how they deal with Nikitin, Ference and Jultz. That's where my judgement is being reserved for.

As long as they put in the effort that they played with most of the second half of the year people will calm down calling for people's heads. Eberle played like a man possessed and if Yak can take another step that will help a lot. Plus there is no way that the defense can be as bad as last year.

I expect them to be better....but if Petry is as good as Habs fans say he is, and he was our number 1 last year and we were terrible.....our defense is a hot mess. Nurse won't help Klefbom, Fayne and Schultz enough.
It's possible PC can scrape up a couple top 4 D from free agency tho...Martin or Erhoff and say Michalek?

Try and remember MacT isn't going to have McDavid, Mclellan, a more mature klefbom and possibly nurse to start the season as well as the extra draft picks that can be dealt like PC is being gifted at the start of his tenure.
