thanks ... now that's a what I'm looking for. I appreciate your perspective. Wow surprised about the Klefbolm praise - I saw him more as a top 4 D man with a lot of offensive upside. But I really don't have enough of an accurate idea of him at this point - AlfieisKing
Among the top of the league in takeaways by Dmen (among talent like Karlsson, Faulk, Staal, Brodie, and Byfuglien) in just 60 games and was very strong possession-wise. Has great stickwork (hue hue) and is a ridiculously good skater.
Obviously made some rookie mistakes, but that's to be expected.
McDavid- (frank)ing hockey jesus. No more questions.
Yak- Much maligned by many, but just as loved by the rest. Ridiculous work ethic and genuinely loves the game. His problems- as I mentioned with Hall- are that his work ethic is regularly pointed without direction. Saw him begin to succeed again once Nelson took over and gave him more structure to work with but still a work in progress. Has some value in a trade but the return would almost assuredly not match his potential.
Draisaitl- Our safest bet at one of those ever so rare big Cs. Hard to imagine him being traded considering his competition as a big C within the organization (Yakimov is his competition). Excellent playmaker who excels down-low and has the mind and ability to be an excellent two-way C.
Pouliot- A guy who looks to be a fixture in our top-9 for years to come. Complimented Nuge and Eberle immensely in the latter half of the year and will likely at least start with them as a 2nd line behind McDavid. - MaximumBone
With all due respect isn't the potential true of everyone? I mean I get that the trade value isn't what it should be (considering he is a first overall pick 3 years out of junior) but what a great assessment by you.
Is there any way you see Pouliot getting traded? I'd certainly think it would be to get $ off the books when they give McDavid his big contract in 3 years

A problem at all, can't say I'm familiar with that phrase. It's been 3 months and he still has symptoms. Until he can ride an exercise bike he won't be traded. - Dangles13
Not a problem*
Hmmmm... I honestly don't know his health... but I'm sure he'll be fine. The only reason we even have the discussion is bcuz of anderson and hammond. I'd rather see Andy traded of all goalies but then, that's a risk.
Klefbom- Stand-out of the season without a doubt. Took over top pairing minutes against second line competition and excelled despite playing alongside Schultz (who has been known to sink linemates). May have gone as far as to pass Nurse on the long term depth chart- and that's no slight to Nurse. Un-(frank)ing-touchable.
Schultz- Easily the most maligned player on the roster. Makes a fair deal of mistakes and just doesn't do enough offensively to make up for them. Still has some potential but- much like Yak- wouldn't bring enough back in return to justify moving him.
Nurse- Top pairing talent who plays a game similar to Klefbom but with less poise and more snarl. Barring a Weber or Doughty coming back, no chance he moves.
Marincin- Most likely of young D to be moved for an upgrade. Positionally strong and a good stick. Excels at possession hockey but can't seem to translate that into points in any meaningful or consistent way. Could see him go alongside a 1st in a big acquisition. - MaximumBone
I'm again, surprised with how high Klefbom is now. I knew Mac talked about him a while back but I thought that was just presentation. Not a knock against Klefbom. I think he's certainly not thought of outside of Edm (by fans, not scouts) but that's good news for sure.
Great breakdown so far. Nikita Nikitin certainly needs to be signed to a long term deal asap

Pouliots contract will be off the books in 3 yrs anyway...so no need to sweat it.

Dafuq? Did he even mention Nikitin? Or how awful he was. Not to mention his assessment of Schultz is a bit skewed and just based on his hatred of him, and in no way an unbiased, objective view of the player.

I thought it was a 4 yr deal....no cap geek no mo'......guess that makes me a total (frank)ing idiot. - Jeropotato
No sir. You are still top greasy skid around these parts.
I just click on the link above the Salaries on the Oilers page here. Not capgeek but same format so easy peasy to figure out.

Yea he seems like someone that's going to be really good. My concern on D is a good strong right handed shot >>> Jones
Still he'll be able to contribute on the 2nd and 3rd lines till then so no need to trade him yet. Purcell though - oranje_blue91
Purcell was 5th in scoring for the Oilers. Purcell could bounce back and put up 45-55 points depending on who his line mates are, he is also on a contract year.

Man I was looking at some of the early 2000 drafts again and holy (frank) we sucked at drafting
25th overall Rob Schremp
26th Overall Corey Schneider
- oranje_blue91
Ok hindsight hitler. In that draft year, you take Schremp over Schneider....it's not like he was projected to be as good as he turned out, nor did they know they would have net issues this far down the road.

He's kinda the forgotten man....if he was more useful defensively I wouldn't mind him, but whenever I need out on line combos I always imagine more of a banger at 3rw....still, he might be one of the better guys to line up with McD.
