Thanks dangles. Pretty much sums it up....but he has a life and lives too far from Edmonton. You being in Manitoba, must be able to give him reasons why you say this.

They just finished 3rd in the West and you want them to trade a 20 year old defensemen who has all the tools to be a number 1 defenseman before he's even close to hitting his prime.

Replacing Seth Jones with Jared Cowen is the equivalent of replacing Ovechkin with Yakupov.

good point

Eberle, Hoffman, Cowen, Neil , something like that was what I was purposing. Or hall but doubt oilers do that... I honestly think Cowen and Lehner would excel and may have huge seasons next year in ottawa

Since it seems you don't feel comfortable putting yourself out there....

I don't think watching highlights or portions of games / videos gives you a feel of players. Watching game after game should. I'd expect someone like you to have a better grasp.

From what I saw in the games I watched: lack of puck control, great stretches of skill - especially from the top players. Yakupov even looked good at times then disappeared - and like much of the team defensively lost. Klefbolm was a good example of that. That's just a age thing though. The mental side of the game was very weak as in key moments of the game (when the oilers had the lead, just got the lead, were tied, or just gave up the lead and playing in OT or late in games) it was almost like you felt the pressure coming crashing down. The team had no backbone. No mental toughness. And certainly no leaders to step up in those key moments and show signs of carrying the puck or reestablished some level of structure in the play. That's obviously something their going to address and as I stated before, it can be fixed with young teams that lack leadership and culture

so ya, I don't pretend to know everything (most of the time) that's just what I saw from the games I did get to see....Eberle had great hands - but anyone whose seen scouting report knows that. On the PP especially though he makes some smart passes; specifically touch passes. What's the deal with Hall too? He looked really disinterested sometimes

ya he's got to get his mind right - that's for sure.
Skill and athletic ability, hands down the best. Just don't think he's right with this group after what Hammond did and now O'Connor signing. too many goalies

All of this....has just served as a giant counter argument for your prior statement that you have a life. Friday night in Ottawa...10:25pm and you are writing mini blogs on HB
