The problem is what we have to pay Jultz to keep him. He would probably thrive on a team with a deep blueline.
What if Pittsburgh sent us Letang with a little reatianed salary for Jultz and say there 1st back. - LittleRicky
I'd have no problem with that trade. |

What would you give up for a Wingels or Nieto? To me those 2 are our biggest trade chips this offseason. - SJSharks39
WINGELS!!! Fraser and Pitlick. |

I think it's when he jultz's, he jultz's hard. Plus the too large of TOI is a big issue to me.
On this subject, the metric Marincin puts up are good, so why isn't he identified as talent? - ChetManly
I think he is considered a talented player and a piece of the team going forward. I think Marincin's lack of scoring is what hold him back from being considered a special talent though. |

I'd be hesitant to give you much for either, but Wingels is one Id lean towards. My offer would be Purcell $1.5 mil retained and a 2016 3rd. - MaximumBone
Nah, i'd rather try & get Oshie we need a RW for Logans line Purcell's not good enough for that. |

Nikitin has to go.... its a must - LittleRicky
I'd be fine to keep him if it meant Ferene was gone and it didn't impede the teams ability to improve. |

Nieto's a good player bro very high possession player can play either wing spot & also the pk. Would be a solid 3rd line player. - SJSharks39
Again... Nieto is ew. I don't care how good of a player he is, keep him in Cali where he was meant to be. |

Drafted and developed Dmen that are solid and responsible that don't put up offensive numbers can still be valuable. He's better than Aulie, Ference and Nikitin. |

Fair enough, i guess it would really depend on the dynamics of the team we're trading with.
on the 2nd question, I think we would need to look on teams on the verge of a rebuild, you suggested Van, I would throw in SJS as well, maybe even a Detroit. - SpoiledByOil
Mentioned SJ as well And I doubt Detroit is looking at a rebuild. They have a lot of quality young pieces and a veteran core to mentor them. All they're really lacking is another of each a great young C and D prospect in the event that Larkin, Ouellet, and Sproul don't turn out the way they'd like.
To me it comes down to finding the next David Savard. A lesser-in-name, young RHD that's set to breakout but just needs the right situation to flourish in. Maybe Schultz is that player, maybe he isn't. Maybe it's David Rundblad. Maybe it's Andrej Sustr. Maybe Matt Dumba. Maybe it's Cody Ceci. Maybe it's Mark Stone.
Doesn't even have to be RHD. Maybe Brandon Gormley. Maybe Patrik Nemeth. Maybe Nathan Beaulieu. Maybe Dmitry Orlov.
No one knows, but I think those types of players are worth the cost of acquisition. |

I'd much prefer it be Ference. His captaincy is kinda a farce, he's on a longer term deal, and he passes neither the "eye test" or the stats test. At least Nikitin passes the latter (and outperforms Ference on the former). |

My target out of SJS would be Vlasic. What would he cost?
Reason why i think he might be available is because he's 28, and if SJS does indeed rebuild, you would think they would be 4-5 years away from really competing again, and at that point he would be on the decline. |

He's better defensively than Aulie and Nikitin and probably better than Ference but he cannot contribute offensively, even scoring at a worse rate than Ference and Nikitin and only slightly better than Fayne.
He is valuable but he's not considered significantly valuable for that reason imo. Doesn't mean he needs to go or he's not a part of the future but he's going to have to start producing to become a part of the "core". |

I can tolerate Nikitin's one more year than the rest of Ference's. I doubt he actually leads the room. Plus, I like to think Nikitin can perform way better than he did last season. |

We're not rebuilding, just been stockpiling our farmsystem & will continue to do so. That's been the change in philosophy. We have alot of prospects that'll be coming up inthe next couple years. Plus the continued development of the youngsters already on the team. We'll be a cup contender again in a couple years. Vlasic ain't going anywhere. |

I'm starting to hate the term "core" almost as much as the term "untouchables". Not entirely sure why.
I completely understand and agree. One thing we could look into is whether or not Marincin has been put into any positions to produce offensively. PP time? I know he had tough zone starts.
He is a solid trade chip. And if him and the 16th or 33rd pick gets us a solid improvement, I'll be happy, but, he shouldn't be the first name brought up. |
