"The Blackhawk defense that finished 3rd in the league in GAA and 10th on the penalty kill was the same, essentially, as the one that will take the ice for Game 1 in Anaheim, with one exception. Basically: Kimmo Timonen replaces Michal Rozsival as the #5 defenseman. "

Didn't the Hawks end up tied with Montreal for 1st in GAA? This is what NHL.com reflects.

tbh, I wasn't going to be looking for him at a Mensa meeting.

Interesting comment about Reilly on the CBJ thread.

So, Reilly has grown to be 6'1", 185, and was one of the three best players in college hockey this year, shown by his Hobey Baker finalist status. He is a great prospect, having developed over the last 3 years, and according to CBJ scouts would be a mid first round pick this year. This has nothing to do with money-he gets the same entry level contract no matter where he signs. I don't get why he has not officially withdrawn from Minnesota yet, since that will start the clock as to when he could be a free agent. I agree that he will probably go elsewhere, but the Blue Jackets absolutely want this kid in Columbus-where he would probably play next year.

Hope the rumors are true and he signs here. He and Panarin sound like the equivs of 2 1st rounders this year.

Maybe you are right. But the only way to shed light on the future is to look at the past. No one thought the Blackhawks would sweep the Wild...but they did. Of course anything can happen, but this wasn't a guarantee, it was a prediction. Which, y'know, can be wrong.

Every year it's the same story. The other team will mash the Hawks, then they themselves get mashed.

The Ducks improve their chances if they get pucks behind the Chicago D, and go to work. If they are trying to line Hawk d-men up for killshots all series, they are in deep trouble, because that will typically be when the puck is already going the other way and they should be getting back.

Bickell and Shaw will hit some people but they will take their shots selectively.

Perry's health is critical for the Ducks.

- John Jaeckel

yes...I agree....what we have seen is that teams are effective vs the hawks when playing behind the goal line and the net. The ducks can play and play well down there and get high quality chances.

"Generally speaking, you have to place greater weight on regular season records and head-to-head matchups."

So by your statistical analysis. How did the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 record vs the Los Angeles Kings in the 2013-14 regular season help with your prediction for last years WCF?

- nurk

oh come on man dont' be a dope....he doing pre series analysis...as the series unfolds others factors can and do come into play...

the kings got on roll, gaborik was huge in the playoffs and did not figure in the hawks/kings season games, and the hawks were really beat up and still took it to 7 after being down 3-1...

Ovi crosses the line, a lot, but he's no where near as out and out dirty as Perry. Perry's human refuse.

Find some stats that favor the Ducks and let's see how they look - I'm curious to see, since you bring it up.
- otiscleetus

since april 16th the ducks are 8-1 for a .888 winning percentage and the blackhawks are 7-2 with a .777 winning percentage

in arenas south of chicago in these playoffs the ducks are 5-0 and the blackhawks are 1-2

But doesn't GAA = total goals allowed / games played?

Both teams did play 82 games. Am I missing something here?

the amount of time played. because some games last longer than 60 minutes. they play overtime if the game is tied at the end of regulation
