interesting that nobody had anything to say about these stats... - Stu17
Not really. The regular season and all of it's related stats don't mean squat right now. Neither do the stats of rounds 1 & 2. The only thing that matters is that the Hawks are a significantly better team than the Ducks, and that will be proven out over the next 5 games. |

this doesnt even make sense. i havent mocked the hawks once. this blogger? yes. not the hawks. and the flyers havent been golfing for 3 months. no wonder chicago stats are out of whack. - flyershockey
You can't say I'm not a nice guy. if I weren't, you wouldn't be here.

dysfunctional and out of touch arent the right words. and also didnt get lucky enough to draft kane after being by far the worst team in the league that year. but hawks fans pre 2006 memories probably arent so good. - flyershockey

It will be Hawks in 5... 6 if Corey poops the bed (could easily happen).
The Hawks are just a better defensive team and capitalize on their chances with special teams. That's the formula for winning in the playoffs. |

This.
It amazes me that so many people are interested in what stats to use to determine who is better.
Who cares.
The Hawks are just better in just about every area, the vast majority of areas of the game that matter at least. Its not that hard to see. The Ducks are a very good team, and they have a chance no doubt so its not like its 100% certain the Hawks will win. But make no mistake the Hawks are rightful favorites and the better team. I actually thought the Wild/Blues were better teams than the Ducks.
Hawks in 5. |

"Still, playoff success is also determined by matchups, and the Ducks’ superior statistics should be viewed in the context of the Blackhawks’ far tougher opponents. In Chicago, Anaheim takes on its toughest opponent yet, and it does not match up particularly well. The Blackhawks are nearly unbeatable at home, so it is essential that Anaheim grab Game 1 or 2 (or both) at home to avoid getting swept. There is the possibility that Anaheim will lose quickly and face a lot of accusations that it was a fraud." |

This is the part flyers hockey will really, really like:

And my personal favorites:
The Ducks were very effective on the rush against Calgary. Enabled by the Flames’ poor puck control and penchant for allowing very loose gaps, Anaheim consistently gained the zone and fired away. That will not be the case against Chicago.
The gaps Calgary allowed the Ducks to operate in were mindboggling.
...and...
For Anaheim to have a prayer of winning, it will need to force Chicago to dump the puck in. But Anaheim is not a team that plays with a rigid defensive structure...
And one more personal observation, the Ducks powerplay has been on fire, but they aren't going to be the beneficiary of Joe Colborne's idiotic penalties this time around... |

Nice read. It talks about Toews matching up vs the Getzlaf line or the potential for it but I believe in at least one of the 4-1 games in favor of the Hawks, Q had Kruger, Nordy and Ben Smith at the time out there when Getz and friends were.
If memory serves they were pretty effective too. |

Well, Shaw can take a bonehead penalty at times. Especially after he has been mauled for most of the game. |

Not that long actually. Even when the team won it all in 2010, I wasn't sure it was safe to hop on, so I waited til the '13 team brought home Cup glory a second time to really commit to this team.

Not the person I had in mind, but I'm sure after he reads this I'll be on that vacay. Even though it's unwarranted, just like most of the other forced sabbaticals. As for TheStranger, easy come...easy go. - Ogilthorpe2

And the Flames were without Giordano, their best D-man, who by the way, would be the fourth best D-man on the Hawks. |

Flyers were the worst team in the league that year. Hawks were 5th worst but won the lottery and drafted PK. Apparently Hawk fans aren't the only fans having trouble remembering. |

Most of them are fine, but some of them are downright embarrassing to the rest of the Ranger fanbase
A good number of them were blasting the team and saying "frank the rangers", "im down with this team it will never change" and "im burning my jersey" or "my jersey is in the trash" after they lost game 4 and went down 3-1 to Washington
Then they came flooding back last night praising the Rangers for their character and yadda yadda yadda
it was sad |
