With a nick name of "The King" he better be a top 5 of all time. He will be 34 next year, if you double his win total he still doesn't catch Marty. If you triple his playoff victories he doesn't catch Roy. If he wins every cup from now until he is 38 he doesn't catch Roy. If he wins 40 games a year the next 4 seasons (he's never won 40) he barely catches Belfour.
The issue isn't whether he is a great goaltender, he is. We were poking fun at the douchey nickname. The King should steal your team a cup. He hasn't. - smellmyfinger
Lets not forget Hank lost 2.5 years of his prime years due to lockouts. Those 2005-11 Rangers teams where he put up 37-38 wins and back to back to back Vezina nominations all came on very mediocre teams in front of him. Goalies don't do it on their own, and even less so than 10-15 years ago during clutch and grab era, or as we call Devil hockey era. How many shutouts does Marty have when he faced less than 15 shots? dozens. It's not important if he catches Marty, or Roy or whomever else in career whatever numbers. It's comical you're trying to make a case against his nickname given to him by his fans. |

Actually what is comical is your recollection of lock outs.
94-95 half season- Hank was 12 years old.
2004-2005 full season- Hank had yet to play a single NHL game at the time
2012-2013 34 games missed.
So Hank missed exactly 34 games in his prime due to lockouts. Both Roy and Brodeur lost more.
So go pretend you watch hockey and cry somewhere else.
