There's a major difference between "capable" and "playoff caliber".
- buffalofan19

Bogosian is a playoff caliber d-man on a top line imo. Now cup contender no way but by the time we are considered one of those Risto should be reaching his full potential.

Much like what Hubie was saying, it's about pairings at this point. Who can compliment the up and comers the best.

Bogo/Risto
Pysyk/Gorges
Zadorov/Weber

would be my best guess as it stands now. If there are trades, then things change. I think Murray and the coach need to find where each player has their faults and match them with someone who has those strengths.

there will be moves made, and this team is going to look a hell of a lot better on paper come sept then many on here think

I bet gorges/pysyk are the bottom pair
bogo plays with someone murray brings in for the top pair
risto plays with someone murray brings in on second pair

big z is in rochester and weber is the 7th d man

I can definitely see that. Murray seems to know what we need and what he wants. That's a good trait to have.

Throw in the assets to make things happen, doesn't hurt either.

I look at the signing of eichel's winger as an indication that murray is going to be moving quantity for quality at all levels of the organization since only 50 can be signed

Absolutely. He has loaded up the arsenal if you will. He's shown he's willing to move pieces he doesn't believe in to get what he wants.

I think McCabe could be gone. Zadorov is on the fence in my opinion. Then you have Bailey, Baptiste, Compher, Fasching (less likely as he traded for him), Possler, etc.

A. He has never played in a playoff game (Granted not his fault)
B. He was often on Winnipeg's top pair, and was benched as recently as this season
C. A playoff team moved him for another defensemen, and gave that defensemen more ice time.

I like Bogosian as a 3-4. He doesn't have offensive upside to be a 1-2.

He will be nice to have in the playoffs because he is rugged, but can skate and move the puck

We need a solid #2 LHD to pair with Risto

I have to say that show has grown on me.

I thought it was a cheesy Burn Notice knock off but I have changed my mind on it

Agreed

Top pair d: Not sure who
Second pair D: Oduya comes to mind
Top Line RW: Not ROR

Goalie: Ramo, Neuvirth are two names that come to mind maybe even Niemi

Idc about my "shutdown" pairs offensive ability.
Bogosian will never be Shea Weber, but if he can be like Seabrook or Girardi I'll be more than happy
Ristolainen & Zadorov have some offensive potential
As does McCabe
Mike Green is definitely not a guy we should go after. His defense is at the point where he'd be on our bottom pair & we'd be paying him 5mil +
And would he even be the pp QB we are looking for? Hes not even on the Caps #1 unit

Oduya is too old
Agree on ROR
Hate your goalie picks. Esp Ramo & Neuvirth. We should be going for Vasilevskiy, Gibson, Allen... Someone like that. Also, no thanks to Jones. Not that he couldn't end up good. But every LA goalie looks good, & I haven't seen enough from him to think he's a #1 guy

McDonagh picks up a lot of Girardi's slack, i don't think he's a good example of a shut dow guy. And Im not sure he's on Seabrook's level either (who's pretty good offensively).

He's probably a step below any of the guys who are considered #2's.

As it stands right now, the pairs will be...
Georges-Bogosian
Zadorov-Ristolainen
Weber-Pysyk
Yes, it does matter to most coaches having LH dmen play on the left, with RH guys on the right
Ideally we'd upgrade who's playing with Bogo & slide everyone down a notch, but I guess we'll see what Murray can do this offseason

Sea brook is "ok" offensively
He averages around 8g & 35pts
Bogo is 23
He can be around those #s
