I am not trying to discredit Eichel at all. He has been great.

But this tourney is nothing like the grind of an NHL season. There is very little hitting in this tourney. The Ice is bigger, etc.

To me Eichel is not going to come in right away and just be "The guy" it is going to take him a half a year at least to get fully up to speed, IMO.

Not taking anything away from what hes done in the tourny but thres still better teams in the nhl then most hes played so far. I dont want people thinking hes going to come in and put up 90 points. Will take a season

He has 6 points in 8 games (according to the IIHF site). Not 100% sure if that includes today's matchup against Switzerland. Either way, he's doing just fine in the tourney and you can see his game is going to translate over to the NHL no problem. It'll take some time for him to adjust because the speed of the game is different and he'll have much less real estate to work with since the ice surface is smaller.

I'd be happy if he could come in and get 40-50 points, but even those expectations may be a bit lofty seeing as how scoring keeps getting lower and lower each year overall.

I am pretty sure after the game against Slovakia he had 6 points in 7 games, so that likely includes the game today. Granted, I don't know if he has any points today because I haven't looked.

I think we need to take it one game at a time with this team in general. Our expectations are all over the place and like Homie and Cab have said, it's too early to guess how it's going to all shake out. I think Eichel will figure it out quickly like he has shown at the Worlds. He has progressed quickly and has become one of the heavily relied upon players, which is something we haven't had in quite some time. That's exciting enough for me.

All ive seen of him is highlights which isnt a true indicaiton of what really transpired. I could go back and make a highlight reel where id be the second coming of ozzie smith in baseball.

But overal I havent heard many things that he has done wrong. For Buffalo it would all coem down to how the lines shake out. If hes on the 2nd line more points then the 3rd line but who wouldnt know that lol

Well Eichel has proved age doesn't matter. Any goalie can do well look at our goalies last year. Bogosian will be our number one d-man with Risto being second.
- Carubba-Kaleta

Which equals us not being very good. Bogosian has never been good enough to be a number 1

If people were convinced Myers was a second pairing defensemen, then there is no way in the world Bogosian is a capable #1.

If we go anywhere, it's because of Ristolainen

If we have 3 good pairings who work well together can over come the lack of top end talent

Umm....I don't think they were together. I know McCabe started out the season with Bagnall, but Bagnall missed a good portion of the season with a shoulder injury.

Pysyk was with Ruhwedel most of the year I believe. I could be wrong though. I didn't get to see too many games this year.

Of course, but for the time being bogo will lead the way. He seemed pretty capable to me on a team with no offense.

There's a major difference between "capable" and "playoff caliber".
