They played their best game of the series without him. The Lighting should tell him not to rush.

I am going out on a limb here...... Next season, in my stupid opinion, the Sabres will improve by 45 to 55 points and finish either 8th or 9th in the conference.... I know... Call me a dreamer but even though they are young the Sabres have great talent and my dumb gut just tells me that if they come up with a decent goalie they will surprise many....

These days an appendectomy isn't really considered major surgery. It's done laparoscopically, so the incisions are pretty small. It's not surprising to me. Someone else had to have it done within the last few years and was back pretty quick. (For some reason Shattenkirk seems familiar, but I could be wrong).

I think there could be quite a bit of improvement just in the fact that the team they ice this year is going to be constructed to be more successful in general. It was a calculated roster this past year that was pretty much expected to be terrible. A few tweaks here and there and the team could have a good amount of improvement. I don't think they'll finish quite as high as you do, but I do think they'll probably pick in the 6-10 range next year.

It's very possible not dumb at all. If the right coach (Babcock) and trades are made we will be a very up and coming team.

Agreed.

6-10 seems realistic, but hey, you never know.

So many variables to think about, if Eichel stays in college and we don't trade for top six guy I see is being in the 4-10 range. But if we get a legit coach, Eichel plays,we trade for a top six and rehinhart does well. I can see them challenging for a playoff spot.

We are way too young.

Our #1 defensemen is 20 years old

Our center ice is incredibly young

No goalie as of right now

I say 75-80 points is a good year

I know this kind of discussion came up a few weeks ago. There are cases of large improvements, but it seemed the typical largest improvement is usually around 20 points. With all the changes we've seen, adding a much more competent coach, and infusing more of the young top end talent (Eichel & Reinhart) I think we could see a 30ish point jump.

I get what you are saying, but to provide context the average here (50 points) would put Buffalo over 100 and be in line with the likes of Tampa, Washington, Chicago, Nashville...

A 30 point improvement would put us at 84, which would have tied us with what Philly did this year, which falls right in the range of where I estimated they could be next year (pick 7-8 depending on tie breakers and the new lottery)

Well Eichel has proved age doesn't matter. Any goalie can do well look at our goalies last year. Bogosian will be our number one d-man with Risto being second.

It does not matter in college or this world tourney. Lets face it, these players are not going balls to the well in this. It certainly matters in the NHL.

I keep hearing Eichel is playing against guys older than him. Great, how many of those guys are going to regulars in the NHL? Sure they may have been drafted, but they could very well end up never playing for their respective teams.

This is true but it's not like some horrible nhl player is just dominating this tourney. It still takes a lot of talent to be 18 playing as well as he is in a tourney with players much older.

Not to mention that you have to expect some sort of growing pains out of both him and Reinhart. Both absolutely have the skill to play in the NHL, but they're inexperienced at playing there, so there's going to be times where they kill it and there's going to be times they look absolutely lost out there. It's part of the learning process.

I am not trying to discredit Eichel at all. He has been great.

But this tourney is nothing like the grind of an NHL season. There is very little hitting in this tourney. The Ice is bigger, etc.

To me Eichel is not going to come in right away and just be "The guy" it is going to take him a half a year at least to get fully up to speed, IMO.

Anythings possible, but IMO he's gonna meet expectations very quickly. The kid is a prodigy and seems to play with a chip on his shoulder. Due to all the mcdavid hype. He just seems to get better and better with every game. I can see him putting up 60 pts next year with kane on his wing.
