Hawks are the most likely to pick up Mike Reilly the best college prospect the blue jackets haves similar to the hayes situation says blue jackets blogger . Anybody have more info on this kid?
- Dunnhawkey

His father is one of the minority owners of the Wild. Seems odd that he would sign with the team that's eliminated them three straight times.

No surprise, but Stan Bowman indicated the #Blackhawks will not be putting Corey Crawford on the trade block in order to free up cap room.

bowman usually true to his word, at least for a while

just have to take away from this that Crawford wont be traded this summer.

Beyond that? farther down the line? who knows

Suppose Brad Richards would come back for 2 years 5 million (over 35 contract). Would you take him as your 2/3C?
- Sandus

No but I'd sign him for another one year 2 million deal.

I think that they are pretty set on the wings for the indefinite future. Hossa, Kane, soon to be Saad are going to be locked up for the next 3-5 (depending on Saad deal). Little room for skilled players on the RW.

I don't buy TT playing center at the NHL level. I think he will be very successful playing off the half boards, similar to Kane but not as a complimentary player.

I also thinking having a bigger guy there who can eat minutes and take some of the important draws away from Toews will help extend his career and get his point totals back up to where they should be.

Tracey Myers tweeted Sunday Afternoon is what is being said for the start. Nothing official though
- ehawk

That's too much rest. I certainly hope not.

They must not be able to set up the concert for Saturday at the Honda Center if we were to play Friday. Only thing I can think of as there is nothing the Friday.

Mostly I like, though I'm still not sure about CC being traded and I think Danault from everything I read (mostly here and a few other places) will be your 3rd or 4th line center next year.

Will be interesting offseason but more concerned with this round and hopefully the next right now.

Eight more W's...

- HawkintheD

I like your list. There are a few players that needed to be added for sure: Danault is def ready to play third line center. McNeil will probably also make the cut. Than we signed the kid out of college who looked very poised playing wing for the Hawks the last couple games of the season. The one player that will be traded from your list would be Sharp. I am 90% sure Sharp will be traded.

Bowman and his staff have done a great job not only in keeping this team competative for the past 5 years but in not doing what many GMs, and almost all fans do, and that is panic at the first sign of trouble. While fans clamour at the TDL for the team to make crazy bold moves, and many teams make all kinds of crazy trades seemingly in a panic, Bowman doesn't get all bent out of shape and instead makes calculated moves or in many cases, non moves. Lucky for us Hawk fans Bowman and his staff don't act like airport windsocks, changing their opinion or strategy with every win or loss but instead have the ability to see the big picture. Many have said this is the golden age to be a Hawk fan with excellent on ice personell, with exceptional coaching, an outstanding Front office that manages the team and the business as well as or better than anyone and of course a top end owner who not only corrected all his father messed up but who is willing to continue to ensure this team is competative.

I like our team .... indeed!

Like any father, Reilly's father would want what is best for his son and he has seen enough to know that the Hawks style fits his son's skill set best.

Why play for daddy's org so early in your career and have the favoritism stigmata?

Let daddy give him the big fat contract at the end of his career after he flourishes as a Hawk while learning from Keith's D style.

It will be a challenge to sign FA's simply due to the fact that most likely Stan will have to take back some salary in a Sharp trade. This will be hard to read but the 4th nuber is the total salary for that line/pairing.

Saad Towes Hossa
4.5 10.5 5.3 20.3
Versteeg TT Kane
2.2 0.9 10.5 13.6
Bickell Shaw Panarain
4 2 0.9 6.9
Desjardins KrugerDanault
0.9 2.75 0.9 4.55

Keith Seabrook
5.8 5.5 11.3
Hjammer Johns
4.1 0.9 5
Oduya TVR
2.75 0.9 3.65
Runblad
0.9 0.9

Crawford 6

Darling 0.6
72.8

Bolded numbers are hopeful guesses and they are still over the estimated cap of $71m. Likely Bickell goes and hopefully for not much salary in return.
I hate doing this now but without Hawks hockey until Sunday I have to do something to keep from working!

- Kentxo

Bolded names are most likely on their way out. Possibly Shaw too.

I don't see how bringing back a guy at a 2-3 million cap hit to play a complimentary role is unlikely. Again, see guys like Foligno, Weise, Zack Smith, Smith-Pelly etc.

Absolutely. I am very curious to see who the Hawks have to play the 2C pivot. I have a real tough time believe the answer is Teravainen. The kid can play and think the game for sure but I can't see him winning big draws or working down low against bigger physical defensemen.

And to prove Ovi wrong of course who has guaranteed a Caps victory

Andrew Shaw may not quite do what Brendan Gallagher does for the Habs but he doesn't have that type of contract either. And he is a much better and versatile player than either of Weise or Smith-Pelly, neither of whom would even get a sniff playing for Q.

Shaw may get moved in the offseason but he would be missed. Bowman would do it reluctantly.

Yeah but his father being there could hurt him as much as it helps him. Kane and Toews agent Pat Brisson is serving as special advisor to the family so there are links. Plus it seems like he is a good fit for the hawks system and projects to be another leddy-lite

Wow, I know not mentioned much here, but how did Perry come back when it looked like his knee/leg separated BEFORE it hyper-extended. Let's get on him every time he has the puck and put weight on that blade. Make him skate alot to be open for the puck and this also frustrates him and throws him off his game effectively.

I would never wish injury on another player but our chances of advancing would be a wee bit greater if he is not 100%. Actually I am quite the opposite I prefer to play through the best. I was rooting for LA to win game 7 in the semis last year. Boy, that didn't work out well.

league site....
Forward Corey Perry, who scored in overtime to win Game 5 against the Flames, did not participate in the Ducks' hour-long practice Tuesday. He left that game briefly after appearing to injure his leg.

"Just a maintenance day," Boudreau said. "He'll be back on the ice next practice."

I think size is going to be an issue. As it is now, with the inclusion of Panarin and Teravainen and assuming Shaw stays, we'd have 5 forwards at 185 lbs or less: Kane, Panarin, Shaw, Teravainen, Kruger. Yes I am betting Versteeg is again moved.

The hawks play a transition game but it's going to be mighty difficult to beat teams like LA, ANaheim, St Louis with that lack of size.

I do have to say, you are really close to what lotsa folks think Saad and Kruger are going to get. $4.5M for Saad and $2.75M for Kruger each seem very reasonable.

However, where does this thinking come from that Desjardins and JO are going to sign for less money than they made this year? Desjardins is going to take a 40% pay cut? Why, cuz he feels lucky he's here? JO is going to take nearly a 20% pay cut for the same reason? Would you take a 20-40% pay cut to stay at your company?

I have JO on my list as potential guys to move on. He can easily get north of $4M on the open market. Just won't work on this team next year without taking another body away from the offence.

Think we have to remember the wonder twins cap hit goes up $8.4M starting '15-'16.

If SB & Co feel they have a [young] guy who can step in with Hammer, be a RH shot (I'm looking at you, Mr. TVR) and not take away from Hammer's game, that saves over $2M in cap hit; $2.45M exactly for TVR.

That would be good for only one season since TVR is an RFA in '16.

I don't think we'll see Desi back, although I liked the addition personally. Oduya will take a discount to retire here and $2.75-3.00 per is about right. Not paying for past performance. Paying for an aging d-man who missed time this year due to injury and will be a 3rd pairing guy most likely for the most, if not all, of the two year deal.

I see Bicks staying and Sharp/Shaw out the door. Just scratch Bicks all season til playoffs start and let the kids play

Since I'm bored there is no hockey until freakin' Sunday, here is my roster for next year.

Trade Sharp, Versteeg, & CC. Maybe Bicks...

Saad-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-Sign #2C (Vermette for a team friendly deal?)- Kane
Bickell-Kruger-TT
McNeil-Danault-Desi
Baun

Keith-Seabs
Hammer-Johns
TVR-Cheap Vet
Paliotta

Darling
Raanta

Edit: Forgot about TT. I'd move Shaw too with Hartman, Ross, Calnan in the pipeline.
