Didn't around the time of the trade deadline Bowman make it a point to say sharp would not be moved at the deadline? If my memory serves me correct he never said anything about not moving him in the summer

Noticed that too...didn't make much of it as I'd figured he was preserving himself for the next round since it looked like the series was ending that night--early on...before it got a little uncomfortable for us

I was worried about all the "Bickell needs to score" press and Qs comments. That could distract Bickell from what he was doing - which is enough. He is not the 13 version but his hitting makes a difference. The offense may come but those checks create space and fear and that is more important now.

Hawks were playing positional hockey in Minny. I'll take the Bickell that was in good position defensively over the one going for hits and being behind the play. Asking him to accomplish both may be a bit out of his ken.

His hitting dropped off a bit in G4...guessing future preservation was the reason...that's all we were referencing. Agreed on Bick's positioning, he was good defensively and kept plays alive offensively.

Glad we're no longer seeing the big, looping battleship turns out of him--not that we should ever see that in the playoffs from anyone.

Confident that was it. Hitting takes a toll on the hitter too...at least to a degree.

Must have been in response to a direct question to Bowman about Crawford and whether he would need to be traded to get under the cap.

I like the team's approach - they don't sign guys to big contracts for 5 or 6 years and decide to dump them after 2 seasons. Doing that raises too many eyebrows around the league with players who may want to come to town for even a year or 2 at less than they could get elsewhere.

The only time they did it was with Bryan Campbell and that was out of necessity.

Definitely. I see Shaw getting moved too. Hartman/ Ross could replace him. Need room for TT, Baun, Panarin, and Danault just at forward. All 4 are ready in my opinion. I'd rather not see Danault launched into 2C duty immediately.

They only have 7 forwards, 3 Dmen and 2 goalies (plus Raanta) committed to for next year. 2 of the forwards are Bickell and Sharp. Crawford is nowhere near the top of the list to move.
