Jeremy White says they will contend for playoff spot next year. Although he knows as much about hockey as my 102 year old grandmother.

They could use another big piece (even just as trade bait). Another top 10/5 pick gives this team a lot of options. If there were better quick fix options available this year i'd be open to it but there really isn't much out there.

Thanks Mike. Could you give an update on Kane? It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to his new team.
I have to question the work ethic of Zaitsev. If he comes right out, and says that he only wants this, that, and the other...... Will he be the next Semin? Only time will tell. I wouldn't want to take a chance on this guy with a long term contract, and I would have a back up plan just in case he gets a little flaky on me.

appreciate the read, oab1...metzler would be the one to ask...imo, at 23 yrs old and having played against men for six seasons, he has paid his dues in a "lower league" than the nhl and has performed well...

he's looking for nhl ice-time...and if a team can offer him the opportunity, then they should go for it...it will only cost a contract, no players and/or picks

adding a top-line/top-six rw will go a long way

Does he have any familiarity with Zadorov or Grigorenko? I would think that if he had any type of relationship with either that Murray could use that to his advantage.

yeo probably isn't going anywhere this season, in fact the I've never heard the wild mentioned in all of this...

and agreed, the fly-boys with the likes of Giroux and voarcek are probably front-runners in the immediate talent department...

he won't find the perfect spot for him and his wife, so who can come closest is fodder for speculation and...

The Flyers are a train wreck, coaches don't last very long there.

Stranger things have happened. We're already in year 3 of the rebuild.

July 1st everything changes!!! Buffalo will be much improved. Not saying playoffs this upcoming season, but they will be much improved from last season, and they will compete for a playoff spot in 2016-17 season.

But the Flyers are already supposed to be a playoff team.
The Sabres did everything to tank except hold a press conference to announce it.

I would rather this team stay away from the July 1st frenzy. Make good trades at the draft if that's the route they are looking to go, but please do not overpay for someone.

The draft is where I think a deal or two goes down

flyers have issues, but they also have two bonafide top-liners in Giroux and voracek, plus a pretty good supporting cast up front...

defense is a mess but they have some studs coming up through the ranks

He said they will contend, meaning they will be close. Why is that such a stretch? There will be at least one serious piece added this offseason and probably more. Also, don't forget that several other teams are expected to be terrible next year. Is it a stretch to think that we won't easily be better than Toronto, NJ, Philly, Carolina and more?

They love making big trades. We should emulate what the Flyers do. No patience, just trades

checked...couldn't find any connection on the rosters...

sabres have a few scouts over there including yuri khmylev...one would think they're up to speed on zaitsev and one would also think that they've been in contact with him...in russian

Sorry but IMO 2 good players don't amount to much, we have a better cast then the Flyers. The Flyers are supposed to be aplayoff team every year ( so they say ) and they aren't, even when they are but lose out they still fire there coaches. Babcock isn't that stupid to where he can't see it. They are a mess with a few bad contracts.

I'd definitely like to see them closer to the playoffs than say, 27th. I think it all depends who is centering this team on opening night. eichel/girgensons/reinhart would be a young core of centers. They could light it up or completely bomb.

I agree, but according to some, their in the top-three in the race because of that...
