what are the chances Valeri Vasiliev is signed and brought over?
- nastyflyergirl

He had interest a year ago. Flyers didn't think he was ready (they were probably right). Actually, right now at least, I think Pettersson is the better player.

How do you pronounce his last name? Is it like zight-zev? zate-zev?

I'd be very open to moving him this offseason, I can only see him going downhill from here. If they can get a high 2nd rounder for him, make the move. Even it hurts the pp in the short run, I'm cool with that, they aren't going to be a contender in 15-16 anyway and, hopefully, by the end of next season, Ghostisbehere is ready to run an NHL powerplay.

Bookmark this post if you like, but there is no way Hextall is going to move Streit this offseason. Not after being the team's best defenseman last season, and playing the most minutes.

If the Flyers are out of playoff contention at the 2016 trade deadline, then I think Hextall will look to move Streit to a contender like he did with Coburn.

The Ranger's thread is priceless this morning.

Good times!!

21 career playoff points in 46 games for the Rangers. St. Louis has to take some heat too. 3 points?

I'm not as pessimistic. I think the Flyers could be very good next year even without Mark Streit; lots of time to make lots of moves.

I want a 1st rounder+ for Streit. Screw that. I'm not giving him away. He's a damn good player. Idc how old he is. He doesn't have the wear and tear most other NHL dmen have because he came into the league so late. But I am definitely open to moving him for sure.

You'd have to wow Hexy with an offer, I agree. I think Streit is on the team to start the year no question.

I don't think they could get a first in this year's draft. However, if he puts up similar numbers next season, they could most likely get a 1st from a contender at the deadline.

Honestly, I just don't see the Flyers being that much better next year. None of the D prospects are going to step right in and be top pair performers, nor is anyone going to trade us a top pair dman unless we massively overpay. While they have an excellent goalie in Mason and some very good forwards, you just cannot win consistently in this league with a bunch of 3-7 dmen. You just can't.

Depending on where Tampa finishes in the playoffs will determine Streit's future with us imo. If the Bolts make it to the Cup or even Win it, I don't think Hexy is satisfied with a end of the round draft pick and tries to land another 1st for streit or packages streit with that first round pick from Tampa to move up.

Morin is too raw at this point still to make the jump. If Ghost didn't suffer that injury and miss extended time I think he'd be the first easy choice of prospects to start the NHL season with the flyers

I think what Tampa does is completely irrelevant to Streit's future.

We were a lot closer then people realize this year. The team isn't THAT bad. We have serious holes, but we could have made the playoffs this year. Berube being gone alone is a huge improvement. Just look at Calgary. They were suppose to be one of the worst teams in the league this year. Their roster on paper is crazy lackluster, but they have an excellent coach.

Even with the injury, Hextall is quoted as saying the possibility of Ghost making the team out of camp is not out of the question. It may not be ideal, but it's a testament to how good the kid really is. He's damn close to being an NHL regular.

I agree.

I think he is most likely moved at TDL next season if the Flyers are in same position as this year.

Also wanted to say I liked your picks you put out for the top 10 the other day. I also agree I could see Flyers dropping down a bit if a deal like that was offered.

I had Colorado sending us the 10th pick, the 40th pick and a 3rd rounder in 2016 for the 7th pick and Grossmann.

One man's look at the top 10 upcoming NHL draft picks

Posted 9:11 AM ET | Comments 9

So, cause I have some time on my hands (cue the Styx references, LOL), here is one man's prediction on how the top 10 draft picks go:

1. Edmonton-Connor McDavid C
What? You're surprised? Yeah, didn't think so. Edmonton makes the obvious choice and likely looks to deal one of their other young forwards for some help on D.

2. Buffalo-Jack Eichel C
Some consolation prize, eh? Buffalo sets themselves up at the center spot for the next decade with the one-two punch of Eichel and Reinhart.

3. Toronto-Dylan Strome C
The Leafs want a shot at a future #1 center more than anything. They trade the 4th pick and their 2nd round pick in 2016 to move up one spot to get him.

4. Arizona-Noah Hanifan D
The Yotes end up getting the guy they wanted all along once the ping pong balls failed to come through for them and they pick up an early 2nd rounder as well. Arizona is drooling over a future top pairing of Hanifan and OEL.

5. Carolina-Mitch Marner RW/C
Yeah, the Canes could use a defenseman badly, but Marner is just too damn talented to pass up.

6. New Jersey-Matthew Barzal C
Uncle Lou gets, he hopes, his future #1 center with the 6th pick.

7. Colorado-Ivan Provorov
The Avs need to add talent on the back end badly. They send the 10th and 40th pick and a 3rd round pick in 2016 to Philly for Nick Grossmann and the 7th pick and grab the swift skating Provorov.

8. Columbus-Pavel Zacha C/LW
Big, mean, skilled and European, he's Jarmo's kind of guy.

9. San Jose-Lawson Crouse LW
The Sharks, even though they struggled in 14-15, look at the Pacific division and probably think that they can get right back into the playoffs in 15-16. So, they go out and grab perhaps the most NHL ready of the remaining prospects.

10. Philadelphia-Mikko Rantanen RW
The Flyers get something they can badly use in their system. A big, skilled winger with a nose for the net.

Since when is Colorado picking 7th? And Toronto picking 3rd?
