Crawford got pulled multiple times in the 1st round series also.

This is kind of my point though. People act like having a good goalie doesn't matter.

Your goalie has to still play well for you to succeed. Trading a high pick for one is dumb, but having Schnieder still is better than just finding one off the street and expecting him to play well come crunch time

this surprises nobody, the bigger surprise is they were doing it in the second half for a game where the outcome was already decided in their favor long before halftime

The point though is, didn't the pick they gave up for Schneider end up being Horvat? Wouldn't you rather have Horvat and insert name here than Schneider?

Schnieder played unreal this year, and the devils still sucked though

I fully expect them to be the worst team in the east next season

something that amused me this week.

I got a call from the Ducks about season tickets in the upper levels and they would include tickets throughout the rest of the playoffs. The pair would have cost just under $2200 for sitting behind the opposition goalie (Ducks Shoot Twice)

I learned that I may be relocating to Phoenix, so the above idea is unlikely. I decided to see what it would cost to get tickets to the Coyotes, thinking it would have to be less than the Ducks... Sure enough, it's much more expensive.

It could be attributed to there being less seats overall, but with poor attendance I found it hard to believe that they would have higher prices. I guess I'll just go to the games I want to for $5?

If you do not have an elite goalie, and there are only a handful of them, a split goalie system is the way to go.

Ride the hot one in the playoffs

Makes perfect sense in a cap era

- homiedclown

In theory, it's a great idea. In practice, it doesn't really work that well. Goaltending is probably 80% timing and confidence. If you're constantly switching between the two during the season, it can cause issues with that.

Some goalies handle it fine, but I think you'll find the majority don't. If you ride one for a week or two and then decide to switch to the other, you're more than likely going to lose the first game the other guy gets put in because his timing is off. Game speed is much different than practice. The best example I can give for his is Neuvirth and Enroth this season. Even Lindback looked 100% better once he got in net regularly here compared to what he was doing in Dallas.

Right, and that was my original point (the sarcasm may have been lost on some). I can't imagine trading a top 10 pick for a goalie (and a backup goalie at that). I can think of scores of examples where a goalie played out of his skull and won the cup. I can't remember the last time a team that was built around the goalie wont it all. You can find them anywhere.

I agree the trade was stupid. I just don't agree that you can plug anyone in and win a cup.

Edwards and Sauve disagree

I think the key is to split them evenly, instead of throwing that back up out there once every 8 games on the road vs chicago

then again some backups thrive playing once every 8 games where most fall like a lemon off a tree

I think they could

the key is the top 4 d

I would be willing to bet Dubnyk is closer to trash than he is to the goalie he's been this season.
- Pierceme69

I would take that bet against you.

I am in an ultimate keep fantasy hockey league and I have had Dubnyk for most of my tenure. He was considered trash playing for the Oilers (yet the two years before on that same Oilers team he was putting up numbers better or similar to Ryan Miller was).

He is an above average goalie.
