I refused to watch anything with Michael J Fox in it outside of Spin City.

You should watch Casualties Of War

Spin City was a good show, but that's a terrible policy.

Blame my third wife and the late 80s. That's all I'll say.

On that note, Daredevil is the best Super Hero show I've ever seen.

Dunno, but as an American who's been all over Canada and basically lived there—splitting time between VAN, TOR and MON—it seems to me one thing that unites Canadians is a special disdain/competitiveness toward Americans, and any other country when hockey's involved.

I will say this, at certain times of the year, coverage on TSN gets to be all about Canadian teams, and any Canadian team winning a Stanley Cup. So that would indicate that a majority of Canadians , regardless of where they're from, feel that way. Unless TSn does zero customer/viewer research. Which I doubt.

TSN tries to generate whatever buzz possible over meaningless games/events.

They even go as low as following junior players to their hotel room and ask them how they feel just a few seconds after they were cut from team canada junior.

And it'll only get worse as they don't even have NHL games anymore.

Seriously... and you honestly think that's one sided...

Take wrestling as a prime example, if there is some kind of minority (Russian, Canadian, Arab, etc) wrestling an American all you hear is chants of USA USA USA USA.....

Watch American hockey broadcasts and its the same poop.

Well this is a well thought out post. TSN still does regional NHL coverage, just not national coverage.

Just because a lot of people all feel the same way, or because something is popular or has always been that way, doesn't make it right. In fact, it probably makes it stupid.

I fully agree that most Canadians care about Canada being superior to the States but I find that POV disgusting and immature. Not to mention boring.

Agreed, and that's the worst. All countries to my knowledge are nationalistic, but nationalism is actually a very divisive and bad thing. Sure, it seems fun when it's just hockey or sports or whatever, but what that does is just normalize a dangerous point of view.

(I am just going to pretend that this is a sincere question).

Not that great. I buy t0o many books and cds to really build a great comic collection, but I do enjoy the medium quite a lot.

- James_Tanner

OK. Just pointing out the inherent hypocrisy in calling someone juvenile for enjoying Star Wars, while simultaneously collecting comic books

Anyways, carry on with calling us all idiots for not agreeing with 100% of your misguided claims. I'll await my next ban

They didn't pussify the Marvel universe did they? I thought the new XMen and Captain America (both done under the herald of Disney) were darker and far better than the originals.
- TokenBlack

The new X-Men films are not Disney. They were rebooted so 20th Century Fox would not be forced to return the property to Disney due to dormancy. Ditto Fantastic Four and Sony's Spider-Man movies.

Marvel Entertainment is involved in the new ones, why they are good, and ME is owned by Disney. Just how Sony is now allowing spiderman (at zero cost) to be part of ME cineverse since they do best job and generate the best profits. Fox did the same thats why you have Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch show up in Age of Ultron and will be in X-Men Apocalypse.

As soon as those studios allow Marvel Entertainment into the picture, they have Disney cashing cheques. Distributed by 20th Century Fox, but produced heavily with Marvel Entertainment influence

Nationalism in and of itself is not such a bad thing. It's okay to take pride in your country because it gives you a reason to want to a) stay in it and b) protect it if need be.

Where the danger comes from is the forced jingoism ("you're not a real American if you don't fly a flag" or "God Bless America should be sung at every sporting event" or similar pressures) that pervades our societies today. At that point you're bordering on accepted social fascism, or in action movie terms, you're either with us or against us. That kind of stuff is both sad and frightening, and it's probably the primary reason that those who hate America around the world do so with such vehemence.

I don't know, how about because Star Wars is an overrated piece of crap that has long past it's saturation point and because you're not five?

Honestly, if one more grown man tells me it's Star Wars day I think I'll just lose what little faith I have left in humanity!

While this is true, the characters who appear in the Avengers are not "mutants" and therefore they are not infringing on the property. The goal of the Disney films (and Netflix shows) is to create the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" in which all the characters live and know about each other and could potentially interact. The simple fact that you have the same characters existing with different back stories in different films should be enough to demonstrate that they are separate franchises/properties.

Marvel has always been involved in every film featuring Marvel characters, but only those films created by Marvel Studios (Disney Company subsidiary) are creatively controlled by the company.

The deadpool movie is going to be interesting to see if they do any tie ins at all with the X-men movies.

I get the rights and intellectual property portion of things, seems more of a legal loop hole, but most fans wont care about terminology. I believe in the new Captain America they have scarlet witch in it and term her with "magical abilities"

Spiderman is going to be the wild card, Sony has botched that guy so many times, that I think they are allowing any Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to use his likeness, etc just so that he is done right and is popular enough to generate a large draw in their next franchise reboot of him
