Since you like Bouwmeester somewhat and the Blues are looking for cap savings. What would you say to Bouwmeester + Oshie for Dillon + Nieto?
My comments on Bouwmeester aside, he is more of a true top 4 than Dillon at this point. Moves the puck better and COULD potentially get some of his offense back with some PP time. His PP time was cut a bit due to Shattenkirk + Pietrangelo emerging.
Dillon played on the top pairing in Dallas, but for whatever reason, does not seem the same in SJ under our system. He is relied upon as a top 4 for us in value, but is a fringe top 4. I only expect him to get a small raise to 2.5 million this season. If Mueller emerges stronger, Dillon gets bumped to bottom pair regardless.
Value is off obviously, but it gives the blues some cap wiggle room and young players with growing upside. While Bouwmeester is 30, he is only under contract for 1 more year at 5.4 Oshie age 27 for 2 more years at 4.5.
While giving us more stable options?
Dunno, just a crazy thought. - j0e Th0rnton
Bouwmester has 4 more years left. So no (frank)ing way to that deal.
Dude, there is no way St Louis makes that trade. That would be an absolute fleecing by us and there would be 28 other better offers for that package in my opinion.
I would love JBo and TJ on our team, but it would take a whole hell of a lot to get those two in teal. Talking our first round pick this year as a starting point plus two roster players. - mxgsfmdpx
I didn't say we would not be adding :p
I was just putting the meat and potatoes of Roster players exchanged out there for cap purposes. Tarasenko and Allen are about to get hefty raises :p
But yeah, StLouis is in no way in the kind of Cap trouble Chicago is
Not even kidding. Call some friends in Montreal, have them contact Jackie Parrino or whoever is in charge since Nino passed away and work some magic lol
Nice suggestion Tim and I do think the Blues need to do something about their core because its just not getting it done. Looking at HB cap central its showing the Blues with $13M+ in cap space possibly $15M if they move it to $71M. The Blues only need to sign 4 forwards, one is a RFA in Tarasenko who will get a bridge deal Im assuming. The other forwards will be bottom 6 that will be done through free agency or through the system. The Blues will also need to sign a 5th, 6th and 7th defenseman and RFA Jake Allen. I'm pretty sure they can get it done with the allotted cap space.
Oshie would cost much more than Nieto, they are not looking to down grade their cup window. If anything they want a lateral trade.
The Sharks should be looking at Brandon Saad if they want to get a good young player. Chicago is under serious cap restraints going into the offseason and will have to unload some contracts in order to keep him. Saad will be a RFA.

Reading this and the posts....sssoooo many holes to fill. The only thing that really made sense long term was to trade down to pick up some more picks in the top 100. I don't think the Sharks can afford enough short term fixes to make a real run.

Endless posts from Chicago fans imply they will move Sharp, Seabrook and if they can, Crawford before losing Saad.
Sharks can't even offer sheet him unless we tell Dallas to give us our 3rd back
