Canes won't deal away Faulk, so there is no reason to be talking to the Hurricanes. If Toronto wants to trade the pick, fine, but any player taken in the draft with that pick is better than anyone in Carolina. Neither Staal player impresses me, they are always overrated (much like guys like on the current Leafs roster) and they are always injured. I do not even want Jeff Skinner since he is a constant minus player, with no size.

No way Bernier is enough of a piece to get the number 5 pick. Even with award coming back. Maybe if the Leafs throw in a solid piece like Gardiner and the 25th pick and agree to take Semin's contract as well then there may be a chance but I doubt it.

Great point. Totally agreed with you. Carolina has pieces that Toronto doesn't and vice versa. If Toronto can work out this deal, that give Toronto either Hanifin/Strome, Hanifin/Marner and on the outside chance Strome/Marner. One way or the other, this team gets a potential top line centre for the future.

Things are looking up already and nothing has even happened. Starting in June, Toronto will be stockpiling young talent and from where I sit, it's about time.
