Oh I definitely think he'll be a trade candidate. I just don't think he's being traded to this franchise. I'm pretty certain Murray is gearing up to blow his load on an asset that's 5-10 years younger than a declining Sharp.

Say what you want but, with the worst Starting Pitching staff in all of baseball we still swept the Red Sox at home and are in 1st place. Nobody would have thought that with our " overpaid, well past there prime players" as you say.

If they're going to pay up for giroux they may as well just pay up for McDavid. Cost won't be all that different.

It makes sense because you want your young centers playing with veteran talent. I don't want Ecihel or Reinhart playing with duds like we have had in our lineup for years.

Sharp won't cost you a 1st either.

For the right price I wouldn't hate it. It would help insulate some of the kids a bit more. Being that Chicago is going to need some serious cap help, he could probably be acquired for a lot less than if they weren't in that situation.

Actually, I'd drive pretty hard at Simmonds, Silfverberg, Saad, not ROR, Tatar, Toffoli, Nikita Scherbak, Okposo, Marty St Louis (there's your damn vet that's actually worth having...for free), Stone, Goldobin or Anthony Deangelo. There's plenty of others I'd also target, but maybe one or two of these guys could actually be available at a premium.

Sharp is a pretty good player, doubt he comes here.

From what I saw he played very dis-interested for some reason. Give me Patrick Sharp from two years ago and I'd be down.

ROR can go (frank) himself. But any potential 1RW is going to cost. And this team needs one. Maybe not this year, but I'm willing to bet TM is going to go hunting within the next year or so to get that guy on this team. The guy wants to speed the rebuild up, and what better way than to grab a guy that will be a a part of your franchise for years to come. Stop gaps aren't part of this team's identity anymore.
