My concern with trading for him right now is that the price is going to be high and there's no guarantee he sticks around beyond this year. I'm also not a huge fan of the amount of money they'd have to pay him to keep him around.

Is he a good player? Yes. Is he worth $7+ mil a season? I don't think so. The way all of his contract negotiations have gone down has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I'd pay that much to watch someone push him in a volcano. But to answer your question, not a (frank)ing chance.

Do you think having Rex here helps us to land him?
- HonkFortheGoose

Well considering Rex had dinner with him last night, I'd say it has the potential to. Damn sure Marrone wouldn't have tried to wine and dine a player like that.

It's not just about trying. He produces as well. You don't see many 2-way players who put up 55-60 points every season. Add in the fact he takes very few penalties and has never had a season where he didn't win over 50% of the draws he's taken and I don't get why you dislike the idea so much.
- Pierceme69

When he gets 5 million or less per season and stops being a sketchy (frank)ing poopbird, then I'll consider not handing him over to an individual who can be compared to Clyde Shelton.

I don't see why talking to La'el Collins is bad... heck I'd sign him right now. If he ends up being guilty you cut him. It's a business...

So your issue is that he held out for more money? You better stick to college sports there, pal.

I said the same thing yesterday. No one is going to say anything if he ends up being guilty, because the police are saying he's not a suspect.

I'm glad they're taking steps past typical status quo due diligence. Heavy rumors that he'll not even bother signing this year because of his 1st round talent level, he'll enter the draft next year and make millions more than if he signed now. Hey, maybe some NFL GM or coahes could..oh I dunno... persuade him otherwise. He'd be an amazing add if in fact he is clear of these murder investigations. I bet Rex was just trying to feel him out last night. Bills taking this into their own hands. But damn, our OL would be 1500% better with him on it.

He can't go back in the draft next season. You can put that rumor to bed.

Confirmed. Looks like the rest of MSM was slow to catch onto that as well.. not a familiar with off field CBA NFL poop.

I didn't figure it out on my own either. I think they started reporting that yesterday morning. The kid got a raw deal. His loss could be the Bills 1st round gain. This is a kid who could compete for a starting job this season. I really hope we get him.

The guy held out during the lockout season. I just don't like the guy. He clearly cares more about money than hockey, which isn't exactly a trait among a majority of hockey players, or so it seems. And, the biggest reason he can (frank) off is his outragous salary/cap number. He can just..(frank) off.

Could you imagine a world where the Buffalo sports teams are coached by Rex Ryan and Mike Babcock? What a place that would be.

He can't. The only way he could re-enter the draft next year is if he was drafted this year and didn't sign with the team that drafted him. He either signs as a UDFA or he doesn't play in the NFL at all. Those are his choices right now.

Well, we don't know his involvement. All we can do is wait and see. But I really hope he gets cleared and signed with us.

I understand, to a degree. But when he plays he competes hard, plays a solid 2-way game, puts up 55-60 points, takes few penalties, and wins over 50% of his draws. He's exactly the kind of player Buffalo needs. If his name was John Smith and not ROR and you saw those numbers what would you think?

The police say he isn't a suspect. By all accounts he hadn't seen the girl since September.

Had John Smith had the same contract background? Then I'd feel the same, personally.

If he ends up arrested, headline reads "Buffalo Bills lineman charged"

Right now it would read "Former LSU lineman charged"

The difference is worth it for someone like Terry Pegula

They will wait

yep. And 5 million for 4 or more guaranteed years makes him a good asset. Too bad that's not reality.

What are you willing to part with for him? I get the feeling Colorado is gonna want either Risto or Zadorov. I wouldn't hate trading Zadorov, but they certainly CANNOT have Risto.

I'd hate trading for him a lot less if it was a sign and trade, but that can't happen until after July 1st.
