They are in the 2nd rd of the playoffs currently and one/two are going to the WCF.

Richards did make a SCF with the Rangers too.

What is your point?
Mine was that we tried to throw $$ at those guys and they all chose to go somewhere else

All of the sudden guys are gonna start coming here BC we got Eichel?
I think we prob have to start winning first

And Toronto would pass.

I wouldnt be so sure about that. Ennis, younger and cheaper, reasonably contract, a first, and two decent prospects, doubt they would get anything better than that in a trade. Plus a team that can absorb Kessels full contract.

I would offer NYIs 1st, Ennis, and two prospects if needed. I dont care if he is soft, he can skate, and score.

Kessel 25g-36a-61pts -34

Those numbers seem very possible for Ennis once Reinhart & Eichel join the squad
Plus he plays in all 3 zones, and costs A LOT less
I know...
Kessel prob scores 35g playing on the wing with one of them, but he also doesn't play defense & comes with a lot of baggage
He's super talented,
I just don't think he's a winner
I'd rather look elsewhere
I get why u like him though, he is exciting

Murray is not a fan of having a team full of Americans on it.

Kessel is a pipe dream and one I want zero part of.

One of Kessels worse season, and Ennis might produce it? I'd take the more sure thing in Kessel, not to mention this team has no RWs on it.

Kessel is a sure thing to score goals,
But that's all he does

He doesn't play defense, he has a bad attitude, he's a quitter, he'd cost a lot to get, and has a huge contract

All that, for a few more goals

No thanks

People hated Vanek for scoring goals and "nothing else". Imagine what they would do to Kessel.

Since the US already beat the two next best teams in their pool, do they go 7-0? I say yes. We may have gotten distracted by the lack of big names. This team plays well together.

Don't have any talent eh? Play like the Kings and suffocate your opponents to death. That said, I'm impressed with them so far.

I think they have a good shot to medal. I didn't think they had a chance at all of doing that last week.

I expect quite a bit of activity from Murray this off-season

1. I expect the prospect pool to be upgraded with a few trades (like the kings trade made last year)

2. I expect 2 additions on the back end so Big Z can go back to Rochester

3. I expect a proven top 6 RW to be coming here via trade or free agent

Murray has already gone through 1 head coach and I have a hunch if the sabres do not show a big improvement this season, he may be on the hot seat

As people cry about "Why this" "Why that" "He stinks" "Why would he sign here"

Sabres have a poop load of money and there is no reason to think Murray would get another GM job if he fails here>

they were booing satan his last year here, and that kid was on an island with no support

I am still amazed at the production he put up as a sabre with that blah group of 11 other players up front

Because Vanek would go long stretches of nothing else. See first half of this season

In the last 20 years, I think he was the second most talented sabre, and the biggest underachiever for the sabres

Another interesting point of comparison, Kessel also did a milk commercial for the ontario dairymen's association.

Of course in his video he swings his stick at the kid and steals his milk to wash down four giant donuts, but it's a variation on a theme.

I like your 3 conditions. I personally would prefer a top 3 RW, but I guess we'll see what's available to him. We know he's not afraid to pull triggers. Also, I'm of the opinion that last year was the first year Murray was actually evaluated. Most of that evaluation probably had to do more with trades and signings rather than, say, player performance on the ice. Yes, that mostly falls on the coach, but the GM as we all know gets blamed for the product on the ice as well. the 2015-16 season will likely be the first season upper management will care about the on ice product. We need to improve past 50 some odd points. Which means Murray will likely acquire a top 6 forward, a veteran defender to play bottom minutes and a suitable young goalie. I really hope he doesn't go hunting for a guy who's 10 years beyond the new...erm...nucleus of this team for a quick fix. Those assorted names can (frank) off.
