I'm ok with Hodgson for another year, but I still think Sharp should be at least considered. If they don't want him I won't lose sleep.

What I don't want is another Moulson at 31 years old signed for 5 years.

- sbroads24

Nothing wrong with the Moulson signing and they should dump Hodgson at the first chance they get.

Not everyone needs to be a huge physical guy out there. Pominville is a "soft" player, but he's still effective.
- HonkFortheGoose

Pommer plays a strong two-way game and isn't a tire fire in his own zone. I don't need the sun, the moon and the stars to come together in the hopes he *might* be effective.

I don't think it's a waste at all. It's a low cost move.

I don't get it, people are fine with Murray throwing around 1st and 2nd round picks and people defend it saying that they probably won't turn out or whatever, yet Sharp for a 2nd rounder is a waste?

- sbroads24

Isn't it a better use of that 2nd round pick to package it & get a guy that will be here long term

Trading for a guy like Sharp is premature to me
That's the type deal we make when we are ready to make a deep playoff run

Getting the Hodgson back that we saw 2 years ago is addition without subtraction. I'm all for it. I think there was a lot going on behind the scenes between him and Nolan. He has the talent, but he certainly wasn't being utilized correctly.
- HonkFortheGoose

He could be a diamond in the rough for us with a new coach....we know he CAN do it, and i think you're right with the lack of proper utilization. Unfortunately, Nolan had a similar grudge/reduce ice time style to Ruff. I think modern coaches understand that a shooter needs to be paired up with a playmaker, not put on the 4th line to "work through it."

Is getting a guy like Sharp going to get us to the playoffs? Probably not this year. But, I think he would help them win a few more games while taking a bit of pressure off some of the younger guys.

He is not meant to be a fix all, that's for sure.

People have a short memory when it comes to Hodgson. He was moved to wing because is slow and can't play D. He was slowly and surely moved down the lineup. A few bright spots doesn't change the big picture.

He's also not as bad as you're making him out to be. I'm not saying he's ever going to go out and tear it up, but he managed to pot 20 goals on a team that was epically bad. It's not exactly crazy to think he could do it again on a team that's decent.

4 mill a year for Hodgson is a joke, just like Hodgson is.

So, does the short term memory include not remembering he led the team in points the year before?

Last few games he showed his talent and was all over the ice. Could it have been a rough relationship with Nolan ? Seems he fell off after he took over.

you could swap out the word Hodgson for Moulson and it would be just as accurate...

Something to be said about having a two (or perhaps three) time Cup winner in your dressing room.

For every superstar in the league, there are just as many vets that those superstars give all the credit to, as far as "showing them the way".

Agreed. and willing to give him the pass on the past season. Could have been Nolan all along. We wont know till we have the new coach, better players in place and consistent lines for these guys to play with. That's what i am anticipating for next season. So glad the tank for last place is over .

There are a bunch of ring wearers that were just along for the ride. Need to remember that at the time they are available. Some could bring the experience, some just bringing the bling.

Exactly. Now, I don't know that Sharp would be one of those type of guys, but he's been around a while and been through it with young guys (See Kane & Toews) so it's not like he hasn't been in this type of situation before.

We're stuck with him unless TPegs wants to give away more free money. I feel like i may as well look at his potential, rather that the part he played on a last place team.... Hoping he regains some semblance of that potential.

What do we have to lose ? Every player under achieved the past 2 seasons. Cept named Ennis. Even he should have been considerably better .
