Ignoring the fact that John Smith could up and walk after next season...
-Two way ability
-50-60 point player
-52% on faceoffs
-PK,ES,PP
-Decent shooter
-Not physical
-Not a cornerstone player
-ATOI around 19:30
I think he deserves around 5.5-6 million. Basically, the same money as Pommer. - TheSabresTaco
That's probably the best comparison you could make, with the exception of FOs.

Get use to him - SABRES 89
I'll get used to him when TM officially announces his trade. Before then, he can go (frank) himself at whatever island he's currently burning his money. |

Comparable, yes. Talent level, Bergeron wins by a land slide. - TheSabresTaco
If his talent is that much better why doesn't he put up way better numbers on a way better team? |

Bergeron puts up better numbers on an offensively dumb-dumb team. ROR can't pass Bergeron with Duchene and MacKinnon. |

You can only go by what the police say. If they say he's not a suspect, are you supposed to just assume the worst about the kid? It's innocent until proven guilty, is it not? - Pierceme69
The police are investigating a murder. They won't leak anything that would jeopardize the investigation. They don't care about his draft status.
Teams aren't assuming he's guilty, they just aren't assuming he's innocent either |

Last 4 seasons:
Bergeron - 284 GP, 85 G, 128 A for 213 points. Good for .75 PPG.
ROR - 272 GP, 69 G, 125 A for 194 points. Good for .71 PPG.
Bergeron is even better than ROR on FOs and has a much better +/-, but he is on a better team. ROR is 5 years younger and fits in the age range Murray likes. |

This isn't a comparison of Dippy to Bergeron. This is whether or not Dippy should be acquired. And at 2 million less than what dippy thinks he deserves, then fine, trade for him, knowing you can sign him for 5.5 a season. |

My point is that you have a younger version of Patrice Bergeron (who makes $6.5 million a season). That's where 'Dippy' should slot in salary wise. |

If he proves himself worthy of 6.5 million, which he has not, in the future, give him 6.5 million. He doesn't deserve that money right now. And I hope we're not the schmucks to pay him that. |

Not a fan of Eriksson or Kessel.
Former is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's good enough, but at the end of the day leaves you wanting so much more, and so much better.
Latter is like a dozen doughnuts. Self-explanatory.

Not saying Eriksson is even that great. He just has a good contract and short term and can probably be had for a lot cheaper than Sharp. I think I like the risk reward more than the player tbh. |

Based on whose assessment? Yours? When guys get new contracts they look at comparables to determine how much they should make. I just gave you a comparable. They are within .4 PPG of one another. You can't get much more comparable than that. And that comparable player makes $6.5 million. Considering he already makes $6 million, I could see paying him somewhere between $6.5-7 million. I'd certainly prefer $6.5 |

Connor McDavid should be making 9 million a season next season.
Career wise, Bergeron was and always has been better than dippy. He's a comparable player, yes, but Bergeron is better. Therefore, Bergeron gets more money. It's pretty simple I think. Dippy is a career 0.57 ppg and Bergeron is 0.74 ppg. If we end up paying that poopbird 7 million dollars I'll end up vomitting to death. |

Connor McDavid has never played in an NHL game. You sound silly. You can say Bergeron is and has always been better all day long, and I could probably even agree with you, but that doesn't mean ROR isn't a comparable player, not only numbers wise, but function wise on his team. So it's not outlandish for him to get paid at the same rate, or slightly above, considering he is 5 years younger. |

I'm not sure he is yet. Bergeron was considered to be a top 10 NHL forward for a while. Not sure ROR ever will be close, and if he was, COL would never move him |

BErgeron is very similar offensively and ROR actually had a lot more takeaways - Bergeron is lauded for his two way game. ROR is younger and whoever signs him will get the prime years of his career. The older Bergeron is at $52M = $6.5x 8. I'd give ROR Vanek money : $50M/7Years. |

honestly, you can throw E Kane in that mix when comparing ROR and Bergeron

Thomas Vanek thinks the Wild have deviated too much from their game in their second round series against Chicago.
"You don't beat teams by playing their way, especially not Chicago," Vanek said. "If you play their way, it will look like we did [Sunday] night. We have to find our game here quickly, and I'm sure we will." The Wild are set to play in Game 3 on Tuesday. It's a vital contest for them as Chicago already has a 2-0 series lead. The silver lining is that the Wild are back in Minnesota so they'll have the luxury of home ice.
Darcy has tought him well, keep up with the excuses Thomas and add in more GLIDING. |

I always thought the costly turnover at the blue line was a part of Vanek's game
