Remember Tyler Myers was supposedly rumored to be trying to be traded for but they couldn't get a sniff of?
"Senior vice president Jim Devellano says the Detroit Red Wings are extremely disappointed with former top prospect Anthony Mantha.
"Very, very, very disappointing," Devellano told Keith Gave of FOX Sports Detroit. "And I say that with a lot of sadness.
"Coming out of junior, we had such high hopes for him."
The Red Wings will likely shop Mantha around in the offseason."
From Complete Hockey on Facebook - GilPerreault11
And this is why a lot of prospects are traded. Rarely do they live up to the hype. Mantha was "Rick Nash like" supposedly. |

These guys are full of it, go read Spector. The wings aren't parting with Mantha. |

If Murray truly did want to get rid of Myers, I'm glad we got Kane instead.
and to think Wings fans came on here and treated Mantha as a god. I mean 33 points in your first year in the AHL is decent, but you'd think he was Crosby with the way they were talking about him. |

I read the article, not on that site but on NBC Sports. Maybe its a way to kick him in the arse, then again, maybe not. |

And why would the Detroit VP say that about him in public and lower his trade value? |

Possibly to light a fire under his butt. Maybe behind closed doors meeting were not working. A lot of speculation to be had.

So what's that mean they will all of a sudden trade him ? I don't think so. |

Well, they SPECULATED that based on what was said about him that he would be shopped, not that he would certainly be traded. |

I don't remember the last team to get 44-50 more points from one season to the next. It's not impossible, but it's not probable. I have all the hope in the world, but realistically they aren't improving that much. - thatsapickle
The 12/13 Avs had 39 points in a strike shortened season. Averaged out over a full season is 65/66 points. The 13/14 Avs had a 112 points. |

Red Wings top prospect Mantha “very disappointing” says Detroit senior VP Devellano - GilPerreault11
I don't even know why we should give a s$$t about Mantha, who cares what the Wings do with him. The Sabres have there own issues to worry about. |

And then came back down to earth. The 90 pts they got this year is more of an accurate representation. |

03/04 Hurricanes 76 points the 05/06 Hurricanes 112 points.
05/06 Pens 58 points the 06/07 Pens 105 points.
66/67 Bruins 44 points the 67/68 Bruins 88 points.
It happens.
The point is Murray purposefully put together a team of misfit players. If he wishes he has the assets and money to put together a playoff caliber team but like the Clown says "This is a conversation that needs to be revisited in July/August". |

You mean the team's best defenseman? - RynoBull
He wasn't his last season with us. He was pretty awful.
Ehrhoff clearly quit, or at the very least was disinterested.
That's the risk we'd run bringing in someone like Sharp...
Guy goes from a Cup contender every year to a bottom 10 team
No telling how he would react
And even if he did react GREAT...
Is he gonna be here still in 3/4yrs when we hopefully are starting to contend for the Cup?
He's already on the downswing of his career
I def don't wanna give up good assets to bring in anyone over 29. I prefer someone around 25-26.
Those guys aren't available too often though

Agreed.
Nobody knows what this team will look like on opening night. Until then there is no way to even come up with an educated idea of where they could finish up.
Finding a starting goaltender, a top 4 D and a top 6 winger is the shopping list for Murray right now. Preferably the top 4 D is a top 2 D (not gonna happen) and the top 6 winger is a top 3 winger (better odds than a top 2 D but still not likely) |

Sharp for the Islanders 2nd I am all for it, anything more I would pass.
The benefits of having a veteran winger playing with Eichel shouldn't be ignored though especially one that can play a top line roll. |

Oh I agree. The tricky part for Murray is building a team that wont be a one and done but one that will compete year in and year out and balancing that with developing the cupboard of prospects he has. It is not an easy job. |

My guess would be they'd want a 3rd and a prospect in Bailey/Baptiste. While they have drafted well, they're gonna want a player that can play in the AHL with NHL talent IMO.
If he can be had for the Isles 2nd, I do that all day long. |

The St. Louis Blues are concentrating on re-signing Vladimir Tarasenko.
"We are not going to be active in signing other players until we get him taken care of," Blues GM Doug Armstrong said. "If it means allowing players to go to free agency, if it means making players sweat it out on what their deal's going to be, he's the priority for us." Tarasenko had 37 goals and 73 points in 77 games in 2014-15, so he's in line for a big payday. That being said, he's a restricted free agent coming off of his entry-level contract, so Armstrong is in a fairly strong negotiating position. He's already stated that he'll match any offer sheet if it comes to that. |

I'm not saying if hate the idea of Sharp "the player"
I just think he's too old
I'd rather play Ennis with Eichel if we can't find someone under 30
And I do think it's valid to wonder how Sharp might react going from Chicago to here
I'm sure at his age he realizes he doesn't have too many more shots at a Cup
He'd essentially be wasting 2 years here with us |

He absolutely has to match
But if someone signs him to a 10mil per year deal, it could make things VERY difficult for StL |

Ennis isn't exactly a veteran. I want Eichel learning from a truly seasoned vet. Nothing against Ennis I just want someone with skill who has won a cup or 2 and knows how to handle the daily grind of the NHL. |
