so the bills think they have the best QB's in the NFL yet the Saints draft a QB and the Rams draft a QB even after they get their franchise quarterback

and then you have to jets taking our quarterback and now the bills are going to make up some bull sh!t story saying they never wanted him..they should be drafting a QB every year now there's none left.. you are not going to win sh!t until you get a QB

My take was they were not going to reach for players in this draft, improve the overall roster

The funny thing is Babcock is under contract until the end of June. He cannot sign with another team until them (unless Detroit gives the okay) the only way Detroit does that is if there is compensation involved. Which means draft picks...do we really want to give up picks for a coach?
- Stripes77

I'd give up the Isles 2nd for Babcock.

I think the problem is that we don't need someone to be better than Bryce Brown or Boobie Dixon. And if Shady is going to be a workhorse, then you hardly need a guy who can carry the ball behind him, barring an injury.

The problem is we have a need for LB depth, we should be drafting a QB every year in rounds 2- 4 and we can use all the OL help we can get.

I can get over the DB pick in round 2, because if we had a 1st round pick, a DB in the 2nd is a smart choice. But we didn't have a 1st round pick.

Idk, but to me, a TE is a far better choice right now than another RB. We had 2 TE's leave this year, offer-sheeted a question mark and have no true blocking TEs.

So, when you need TE and LB depth, and your QBs are Matt Cassel, EJ Manuel, Jeff Tuel and whoever that other guy is, this is a horrid choice.

- DynamicThreads

What happens when/if Shady goes down? Jackson/Brown UFA after this season is over. Dixon 1-2 down back. Williams was drafted to be complimentary to McCoy, probably starting in 16-17. What if this kid was rated for the third round and he slipped to the 5th? At this stage of the draft, it's BPA almost every time. You don't reach for a piece of poop in the second round if he's a 5th round talent if there's first round talent staring you in the face. What if the Sabres drafted a fifth round center in the 2nd round just because we needed a center, instead of a 2nd round talent? It'd be silly. If you have poor projections for a player, you leave him until he deserves to be drafted. None of these quarterbacks after Mariota will sniff a regular starting role ever, and if they do it won't be for a long time. It's a bunch of Josh McCowns and Matt Cassels, in 3-4 years from now. Someone please fill me in as to how that helps the Bills.

Making an argument for a TE (we NEEDED a guard in the third round, love the pick) in the fifth round is more than fair. RB needs beefing up past Shady after this season. Freddy is about gone and Brown sucks and will be gone. It's a smart pick and again he was typically rated in the 80-100 range. So there's value for the Bills. A TE could have been a decent idea as well, especially if we intend on running a two TE offense. But in the 5th round, do we really expect a TE to come in here and start? Highly doubt that. LB, we have two quality guys back there, and if we don't snag one in the 6th round, there's plenty of 2nd round free agents still unsigned that can be had on the cheap.

This is what I took it as. Get the best players on their board.

No QB was worth that pick at 50. The CB is basically a younger McKelvin. Seems like his job could be in jeopardy plus his cap hit makes him a possible cut during camp (2.9 savings this year and 3.9 next year).

They picked a guard to help the OL. You can argue about the player if you want but they went for a position they needed to improve.

When you get to the 5th round they are all projects if any of them see NFL playing time in their rookie year its gravy on top. They took a RB (remember last year when Freddie and CJ went down?).

It's not like they went kicker. Time to move on.

I disagree about Bryce Brown for one. For two, next year is next year. They could address that in both free agency and the draft next season when they will have a 1st round pick.
- Pierceme69

Don't just take it from me. Look around, you'll notice a lot of football guys are not high at all on Bryce Brown. Including our own coach.

A solid project. We'll stick him in the project folder with Chris Gragg.

If he holds onto the football he is a viable replacement for Shady. He's proven it in the NFL. Two of the best back-to-back games for a backup RB in NFL history.

The play he fumbled on was an explosive run where he got to the end zone. He was the #1 RB prospect in the entire country out of HS. You're underselling his ability.

Freddy is 34. RBs peak at 27.

Don't need him at his peak. Just need him to be good. And he's still good.

Think about it. Fred Jackson and Bryce Brown are both UFAs at the end of the year. Also, Bryce Brown isn't that good

Patrick Moran Mix96 ‏@PatMoranMix96 45m45 minutes ago
Bills will save $660k when/if Bryce Brown gets cut. With Karlos Williams drafted, that seems a lock at this point.

Jay Skurski ‏@JaySkurski 1h1 hour ago
Jim Monos says the #Bills ideally keep three running backs on the roster, but could make a case for four. Don't see how Bryce Brown fits in.

Vic Carucci ‏@viccarucci 1h1 hour ago
Interesting choice: #Bills go w FSU RB Karlos Williams in 5th round. That should mean end of line for Bryce Brown.

NFL Draft Diamonds ‏@DraftDiamonds Mar 24
Rex Ryan calls out Bryce Brown; I will not remember his name until he holds onto the football http://nfldraftdiamonds.c...-holds-onto-the-football/

Here's a guy that couldn't even beat out Anthony Dixon to start.

He declined last year, and I love Freddy but it's virtually impossible at this age for him to be better than last year. The man is here for another year, and I truly hope he retires a Bill.

I see what you did there.

We drafted a LB by the way. Tony Steward. A project back. Doubt he's any better than a free agent we can snag on the cheap.
