The whining, crying, female dog'n and moan'n from Detroit will be unbearable tonight.
...might I add, deliciously unbearable. |

Anywhere but St. Louis. Leadership is the only thing holding them back...well, that and goaltending. |

I agree. Stay in the East, unless he wants to replace Q. |

He wouldn't go to San Jose would he? I know people are saying Toronto but Boston seems more realistic to me if he leaves Detroit. |

Sweet...bank shot for Stralman - ArlingtonRob
Yeah Rob he would have looked great in a Hawks sweater...Heck give me Coburn off that team but Stan wanted KT.
I like Tampa they look good. Habs haven't beaten them all year. Rags/Tampa East final...?
Meanwhile the Hawks have 4 dmen and a small prayer... |

My only reason for questioning this...
...if Babcock were going to sign an extension, why has he waited until after his current deal expires?
Coaches in all sports generally sign extensions well before "free agency"...
...when they are wanted, and when they want to stay. |

Icehogs into overtime in game 3.
2-2 Danault scored to tie it with about 10 left in the third. |

He refused to negotiate in-season, so once the season started he wasn't going to sign.
So there's that. |

That makes sense, but why didn't he extend last off-season? There were 4 months of down time to take care of business. |

Dunno.
I just remember reading that when they didn't get it done last summer, that he'd be in limbo until the end of this season. We'll know soon enough. |

The longer he waits, the more he makes. Pretty simple. |

But if it's more money he wants...
...why not shop around?
More bidders, the more he makes. That's pretty simple as well. Is it not? |

Wonder if Scotty Bowman will recruit him to Chicago, to follow Hossa? Q and Babcock behind the same bench. One can dream........ |

The bench isn't big enough for those 2, and there's no way that would even be considered...neither would entertain the idea, and neither would Bowman.
College of coaches didn't work well for the Cubs... |

Good question. llitch probably made an offer and Babcock decided to wait to see what else was coming.
Will Ilitch treat Babcock like Max Scherzer? If Toronto or Buffalo make a huge offer he may match it or he may have already decided to let Babcock go. I read somewhere that the Scherzer decision was made the day after he turned Ilitch down. He does not like the word "no".
I really cannot see the Blues or the Bruins paying Babcock $5m plus a year. Jacobs is cheap and the Blues are a budget team IMO. Babcock will probably leverage this into some sort of personnel control too or an eventual shift up to a front office job. |

Didn't they do that with Holland? Thought I read Babcock got an offer in the summer. Fools if they let him walk. |

Pretty sure he got an offer, just not one he liked. He was very vocal about not wanting to negotiate in-season though. |
