I'll take Ennis at his salary than Kessel and his at that point.

I've never been a Kessel fan.

One trick pony

- dadeadhead

When that one trick is scoring goals, I'll take it.

Fixed for accuracy.

Fine you got me. His last 5 years he produces at .90 ppg due to the Leafs tank job the last half of the season.

I'd take him but he isn't any of my top choices
- Stripes77

Kane/Eichel/Ennis
Moulson/Reinhart/Backes

Or

Kane/Eichel/Oshie
Moulson/Reinhart/Ennis

I'd choose option A but that's just me.

He wouldn't be my first target but you don't want him just because he hasn't performed well in the playoffs? Kinda silly
- Stripes77

Is it? Is the goal to have the best regular season you can or to win a cup?

For one good coaches build their systems around the players and not the other way around.

Nothing the Leafs have done is right so there's that.

As I have said before that 1 trick pony is a ppg player. His salary is $2 million dollars less than the other ppg wingers in the NHL. With the cap space they have and the salary cap going to rise by the time Reinhart, Eichel etc are due for their raise it wouldn't matter as much.

Having a one trick pony isn't the worst thing as long as you only have one and he does that one trick really freaking well. Besides that he has speed something they will need to play with Eichel.

I understand the pros and cons of him but to just dismiss him because he plays for Toronto and you don't want to help them or because he is pudgy is kinda dumb if you ask me.

- Stripes77

Realize you're using the royal you here... though I'd rather have Reinhart playing against Toronto for the next 10-15 years than having him play for them.

Let's say we can get him pennies on the dollar from a trade perspective... great ok sure - I'll make fun of him in more of a loving way for being a douchey fatty. If not, I'd just as soon see what Eichel can do with Ennis and Kane, and what Reinhart can do with Fasching and Grigorenko/Moulson/Girgensons.

He ain't coming here regardless so it's moot, really.

He's a career .778 though and has been a ppg twice.

He is the greatest 40 goal scorer that never was.

Reminds me of the Connolly was a ppg player banter.

.778 career is nothing to scoff about especially considering it took him a little bit to get off the ground (insert fat joke here).

Still Connolly couldn't sustain a ppg mark in a full season.

His 32, 36, 37, 37 goal seasons are pretty good.

Would he become a 40 goal scorer with a real center? Maybe if not I would take 35 goals a year from him and 40 assists.

For all his goals Toronto has made the playoffs once in his time there.

This is why you don't pay a guy that kind of coin.

No matter how anyone wants to shake it you trade for Kessel he becomes the face do to his salary. Like it or not.

I want no part of him being involved in teaching the kids. His leadership qualities IMO suck a fat babies d!ck.

The marketing team makes the players the face of the franchise not their salary. A trade for ROR would not make him the face of the franchise either.

Hockey is a team sport. Putting the team on his shoulders is a mistake and that's something his next team whether here or in freaking Arizona for that matters won't do (well Darcy might).

I understand you not wanting him, they make sense for the most part. I would still see what I could get him for. Again not spending the farm on him either.

Time to move on.

Kessel is a fat sack of s$$t, IMO the new coach would consider him a problem. ROR would not need to be the face of the team, he just needs to make the team whole and he will do that. I'll take ROR all day over Kessel.

Based on his salary they have no choice but to have him there as they want to sell as much merchandise with his name on it to recoup as much of his salary going out.

Dk why this came to mind but it did.

Why can't ennis be a first line winger? not every guy on the top line needs to be a superstar. Your eichel is much like a Crosby or malkin, you hope he ups the production of your wingers. For years players like dupuis, hornquist, Kunitz, Neal bea bennett have been playing with Crosby or malkin and their production had been much higher than playing anywhere else. Their production on other teams is similiar or worse than ennis with his garbage mates. Hell James Neal made the Olympics with Crosby and looked far worse than ennis this year playing on Nashville. Ennis has the talent to play on a top line, he doesn't need to carry it.

Good point . Ennis another year of experience will make him even better. A few players with his skill set on the other lines will make the team better. Can't win a cup unless ya have a good enough year to make the playoffs. Possible next season ? depends what we gain and lose by then. (regarding making the playoffs)

The labels are stupid. Patrick Kane for a lot of his career has played on the "2nd line"

1st line 2nd line 3rd line. The difference between them is who is called upon to play the most minutes during any game . Nothing more.

Sedin type stuff in the Sabres office today lots of pipe dreams of getting both McDavid and Eichel. More so jokes than anything else due to PC's comments earlier.

Hey, maybe Ennis, Zadarov, Grigorenko and 2-3 1st rd picks is enough to get oilers #1

Hahaha
